Docked Developer Tools – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.10.829.3
-
There were two things that stop me from using Vivalid as my main browser.
Now there is only one - synchronization.
I'm looking forward to it! -
@Steffie Also, text (in English) should be "Count me as a User"
-
@TbGbe Teehee, maybe this feature is designed especially for egocentric extroverted people
-
Great improvements in the Start Page department, but..it would be better if there we had favicons instead of snapshots and if the titles of the sub-tiles were visible! A question: why auto-update is not working (although checked in the settings section)?
-
@nutcracker auto update from previous snapshot should work, but in stable releases snapshots are not considered.
-
@iAN-CooG Well yes, i mean obviously; i grasp that from the name, but it still seems a bit weird to me. On one hand it's courteous of the Devs to make the function visible to us & opt-out-able for us, but that same courtesy also fundamentally partially invalidates the raison d'etre of said function [if users actually do opt-out]. This oxymoronic consideration is why i was interested to put up my hand with a question.
-
@Steffie Wonder if (eventually) it will differentiate between Snapshot/Stable or if it is simply "Vivaldi User" (for search engine marketing etc)?
-
Wonderful update! No more using Chrome for web development.
Also is it just me or has the performance of dragging speed dial tiles around been improved immensely? Before movement was jerky, now it's completely smooth on the machine that exhibited the behaviour.

[Extensions] Vivaldi should respect the newtab extension override (VB-27785)
Can someone elaborate on what's this about? At first I thought it finally means you can use speed dial replacement extensions without any additional tinkering but that doesn't seem to be the case.
-
One thing I noticed is that devtools aren't docked when you try to inspect the Vivaldi UI. They still show up in an own window and there is no way to dock them. A fix for this would be awesome.

removed

@mtaki14 Are you positive you are trying to do the same thing as me? With what parameters did you start up Vivaldi?
-
tried with
-–flag-switches-begin --debug-packed-apps --silent-debugger-extension-api --flag-switches-end
using ctrl-shift-I the devtools are docked
selecting inspect via menu it's floating -
@iAN-CooG That's correct.
-
Finally some Speed Dial love! \ o /
-
@nutcracker: It didn't work for me either, I had to manually check for updates. Though I just might've been too impatient...
-
@luetage: I can confirm this, although it's probably a totally different thing as the dev tools for web pages are docked within those very pages on which they were launched, whereas the dev tools for the browser would have to be docked somewhere within the browser itself. It would then move the whole browser window - not only the viewport area. Or it could be docked within the viewport area, but remain visible as you switch through the tabs. How do you imagine this?
-
@pafflick That's an interesting question. I think they should just be docked to the page they were activated on. If I'm doing something with the UI I don't need to switch tabs anyway. Devtools aren't being docked for internal pages either btw. (eg speed dial), and in this case the page is specified and clear.
But yeah, overall this is a non issue for most users, and it doesn't bother me too much. It just would be a nice extra to have it functioning.
-
@luetage I agree. Actually, launching the dev tools for the UI on a page with the dev tools for that page opened, helped me realize how much work had to be done to achieve such a "trivial" result (like docking the dev tools). I can't even comprehend that code used there. I also tried inspecting the docked dev tools, but it doesn't seem to be possible, unfortunately...

[Notes] Let “Insert Note” menu use sub menus (VB-27778) - THANK YOU!
Favicons are not transparent - Great too!Now all we need is native custom speed dial icons an i'll be happy
