Pretty slow - websites are stuck/freezing

  • Just tried Vivaldi after a while again to see if theres any progress in development - I doubt it after I opened www.spiegel.de and the page got instantly stuck/slow response/ finally froze.

@Vivaldi-Team Please develop the simple features like web browsing first before you focus on the fancy ones - thats how Firefox became my favorite browser already in alpha status (2003).

  • I can not reproduce such freeze with 1.9 Snapshot (32bit) on Windows 10 x64 Creator.

Slowness may depend on your hardware and ads on the SpOn page.

    • Do you use extensions in Vivaldi?
    • Do you use Flash Player?
    • After opening vivaldi://gpu what is content of the 1st section?
    • Did opening vivaldi://chrome/settings/search#hardw and deactivation of hardware acceleration and restart of Vivaldi help?

  • Hi, page open in about 2 seconds on low end system but 100Mbit cable.
Latest snapshot, Flash disabled, uBlock Origin.

    Opensuse Leap 42.1 x86_64
    CPU Intel T4200 4 GB
    GPU Intel GN 965
    xf86-video-intel 2.99.917-6.1

    Cheers, mib

@SveBjorn: Can't reproduce the problem. Loads quickly and operates smoothly here. (Win 10 Creator Update)

  • Strange, I use Windows 7 - maybe thats the issue?

    Just tried https://earth.google.com/web/
    It wont load.

    I keep trying.

  • @Ayespy Thanks for checking.
I will check a few more sites.

  • @Gwen-Dragon I will check my hw and come back to you. Maybe its good to deactivate the hw acceleration.

@SveBjorn: I think that page works ONLY on Chrome, and no other way.

  • @Gwen-Dragon Looks like my laptop has a view issues here. Is it the hw or are these Vivaldi bugs?

  • @SveBjorn Looks ok.

Do you have two GPU on your PC and one is a Intel GPU? if yes disable the Intel in your BIOS.

  • @Gwen-Dragon Hej, Sorry for the late reply - I have an NVIDIA quaddro K1000M (2GB) - is for most use quite nice and fast, specially CAD. Maybe its too old (5yrs).

  • Do you have Flash Player (PPAPI) installed? On some sites Flash ads get crazy and result in memory leaks.
