Sorting Bookmarks Alphabetically
-
Edit: Just noticed that this is a feature request, so I upvoted it in the appropriate forum.
I understand that the code for bookmarks may not be completed yet, but is it on track for being done in the near future?
It would be great to be able to sort bookmarks with a right-click menu.
Also, when right-clicking a bookmark in the Bookmarks Bar, it takes me to the website rather than open a menu, like one would expect.
Will these issues be addressed soon?

Yes, please add automatic alphabetic sorting of bookmarks. Thank you!

@igormsk you are replying to a 3 years old topic, and you can sort bookmarks already in the sidepanel for example.

This issue is still partially unsolved. Vivaldi 3.8 looks great but bookmarks still cannot be sorted in the Ctrl + D menu.
The order of bookmarks in the Ctrl + D menu is also different from that in the side panel bookmarks or on Ctrl + B list. There is no way to affect the order of bookmarks in the Ctrl + D menu.

Why aren't my bookmarks sorted by title as I have specified?
I only access bookmarks through the horizontal Bookmarks menu item. There, they are not sorted at all.
I have them specified to be sorted by title via the bookmarks sidebar. This setting should propagate everywhere. Even Edge and Firefox get this correct.

In Vivaldi, the Bookmark Bar, Bookmark Panel, and Bookmark Tab have independent sorting. This is more flexible than Edge and Firefox.
The Bookmark Menu is unsorted. As far as I can tell, there is not yet any feature request for sorting the Bookmark Menu.

I have switched to Vivaldi from buggy Opera two weeks ago and I also want this feature.
-
I've been using Vivaldi for several years and yes, I find it inconvenient that it can't sort alphabetically.

I don't know, but it looks pretty alphabetical to me...

@DerHimmelssheriff It's buggy on Linux at least.
There is a white strip on top of videos playing in full screen mode,
it's an old bug and nobody in Opera software cares.
The bookmarks library is a crap with bad usability and Opera sync has never worked well. -
@DerHimmelssheriff Yes, there is the problem with media on linux too. On Arch and derivates, including manjaro, the opera-ffmpeg-codecs package must be installed to play media.
Snap packages are crap badly integraded to the system.I do not like speed dial sync in Opera, but it is not the only problem related to Opera sync. It does not sync the things consistently. I browse internet using a machine and the another one does not find the urls loaded on the first machine. In other works, history is not synched well.
Bookmarks deleted on a machine are sent back to Opera sync after opening Opera in another system installed on the same machine. -
I changed from
manual
toby title
:- bk bar are sorted by title
- same for panel
- same for bk menu
The only ones which probably can't still be sorted are the bk on speed dial.
But is supposed to work this way: every sorting is kept separated. -
@Hadden89 Thanks. I had not noticed the sorting option from the bookmarks bar because it is only available when clicking on an empty area of the bookmarks bar and my bookmarks bar is full. I do not use the bookmarks panel. Seeing your screenshot I did not understand how to sort the bookmarks menu. It's not possible to sort the bookmarks library too.
-
@Strangiato I think the bookmark menu sorting is inherited from the bookmark bar sorting.
But can't be sure, so try and let us know -
@Hadden89 unfortunately my bookmarks menu is not sorted like the bookmarks bar.
-
@Strangiato Sad. In that case I can provide a workaround which always worked to me (it should affect only menu and bar) as long you mean sorting your bookmark A/Z
Install this extension, push on the button and see if it worked.
-
@Hadden89 Your workaround works. Even my bookmarks library is sorted now.
Thank you very much.
