Add links to the Panel?

  • At present, Bookmarks, Mail, Contact, Downloads and Notes are added to the Panel. I would like to see Links added as well. I hope many others as well would like this feature.

  • Perhaps it's just lack of knowledge on my part, but how do you mean "Links" as separate from "Bookmarks"? Isn't a bookmark simply a link with name/icon attached?

  • The "Links" panel in Presto Opera displayed all links on the current page, not the links a user selected/stored:

To be honest I never really used the links panel and would be curious to hear some practival use-case scenarios :)

  • Hi all!

I use these links to mass-download images or mass opening them in new tabs(using Opera). Please see attached image. I do help my kids do schoolwork, and for their Powerpoint presentations, this feature comes in quite handy.

  • Oh sorry, I forgot to mention that using links in conjunction with the Filter option at the top(using wildcards), it's very easy to narrow the number hits significantly.

I can't believe that this feature is unknown to high end users like you guys ;)

I rarely use the Links Panel, the Info Panel, or the Search Panel, but I would like to see the History Panel and Windows Panel in Vivaldi.

It's useful, for example, to directly download a video or another file buried inside the page, a sorta of what Jdownoader does.

  • @Ravis:

I can't believe that this feature is unknown to high end users like you guys ;)

Opera is so packed of features that a lot of opera users (likely me included) still has to discover some of the functions after 10 or more years of use.

I noticed that here thee is still a lot of people that don't know what the mouse middle button does in opera (and nowadays in all other ones) .

I must add that in Opera case the attitude of the users to not read the freaking manuals, is backed by the traditionally poor opera communication and/or documentation.

  • Now that you guys know about this Opera feature, would'nt you like to see this in Vivaldo too, even though you haven''t used it in Opera so far?

It's not unknown to me — I just don't often use it. I am sure that Blackbird knows about it too, but the thread description was poor. It should have been:

    Add Links Panel.

  • @Pesala:

    Add Links Panel.

Yep… now I understand. And indeed, I've never really used them. But I should have read the OP's post a bit closer... I keyed off the word "bookmarks", associating it with "links", and not the word "panel" in the post and my mind ran away down that avenue. In any case, I agree with the principle that if there are a body of users needing a particular feature, that should make it a candidate for being considered for inclusion (along with the option to turn it off for everybody else). Again, that attentiveness to users was something that made Opera a remarkably powerful browser for so many different kinds of users...

  • I think I only had to resort to the Links panel once. I used Info and Windows, never Downloads, History or Search.

  • I'd also like to see the Links panel feature on Vivaldi. As Ravis said, not everyone may use it but it's nevertheless very handy for many of us who need to quickly fetch the page links (image gallery, for example). Currently, whenever I need this I have to open my Opera 12, since the newest versions don't have it anymore.

Please add it to Vivaldi, it would undoubtedly be an even better browser.

I would like to see a Links Panel added. I don't use it often, but as Ravis mentioned, the Opera 12.x Links Panel is very useful for bulk downloading, as you can filter the display, highlight multiple items, then download all of them in one download step (Right-Click > Save to Download Folder).

I would also especially like to see a History Panel added. I often use the Opera 12.x History Panel multiple times per day.

I also occasionally use the Opera 12.x Info Panel, and have the Windows Panel on my Opera installations, but rarely use it.

I occasionally use the links page (not panel) myself, indeed for searching links and/or mass downloading or opening.

The latter could also be done through the context menu: make a selection and if the selection contains more than 1 link or image, add relevant "Open links in tabs" and/or "download images" menu items.

  • Since I use and with all likelihood continue to use Outlook for my mail, contacts and calendaring, those panels are not of great interest to me. However I certainly understand that many, many users here will be using the mail application, so those panels are necessary for them.

In Opera I use and would like to see Vivaldi add panels for history, search, info and links. Not having them is not a deal breaker for me, but they add to my browser experience.

  • I would LOVE to see link panel added…A large community and myself use links panel on a REGULAR possibly daily basis on opera...Any time I have to pull a mass number of links easily that are not all positioned properly for snap links. I usually open anywhere from 70-120 tabs from the same window based on links.

  • @Pesala:

  • Sorry for digging up this thread, but the Links Panel in Opera 12 was amazing. It's not a feature you would use daily, but when you do need it it's super convenient and handy.

I personally used it, probably like most users of this function, for bulk/mass downloads and bulk/mass new tabs. I would love having this back.

  • +1 for the Windows panel which is a real boon for mega searchers that like to open multiple windows and tabs (love the new hibernate tabs feature BTW).
+0.5 for Links which made it possible to quickly locate the active link you need on a busy page (or badly designed).
As for the History - the existing history works for me
