Todoist for Chrome

  • Have successfully installed and enabled this but I can't see an icon for it anywhere. This is my first few minutes with Vivaldi so I'm maybe missing something obvious but I don't think so - I've installed two other extensions and their icons are visible.

  • Post a link to extension.

  • @RedLenin The app doesn't seem to work at all. When I launch it I only get a blank popup window. Contact the developer of the extension about it.

  • @luetage It works fine in Chrome and, as I understand it, Vivaldi is designed to be able to run all Chrome apps right out of the box. I also find it hard to believe that I'm the first Vivaldi user to have installed this extension!

  • @RedLenin It's generally compatible with chrome extensions, this says nothing about apps though. Also many chrome extensions don't work either. Vivaldi doesn't heavily advertise the compatibility to chrome extensions (nothing is said about it on their homepage for example), it also would seem that they can't look into all compatibility issues. Your best bet is to contact the developer, or to find someone who knows how to fix it. Alternatively you can always file a bug report.

    Remember, per half of this 2017, Chrome apps won't be offered in Chrome store anymore for browsers. Installed Apps will still run on Chrome or Chromium (not Chromium based) browser.

    Around January 2018 no Apps will run in any Chrome or Chromium browser.

    All Apps will run in Chrome OS only.

    @RedLenin
    After I install Todoist.

    Based on Todoist browsers.js

    .
    .
     chrome.storage.sync.get("location", function(data) {

         if (data.location) {
             navigateTo(data.location);
         }
         else {
             navigateTo('https://chrome.todoist.com/?mini=1');
         }
     });
    .
    .

    This App seem one of those of host apps. The New Tab just a Cloud page.

    Try to just point our Vivaldi New Tab settings to that address https://chrome.todoist.com/?mini=1.
    That address brought me to their log in page.

    Betting my guts, I login.

    Is this what the App looks when running?

  • @dLeon Yes!

    @RedLenin
    Try with my second post then. Don't depend with the Apps icon.
    Just directly visit the https://chrome.todoist.com/?mini=1.
    You could add it as new tab, homepage or web panel. You could also send it as window if you want.

    The "App" it self doesn't contain anything particular except Icons & script pointing to that address.

    Screenshot, Todoist as "New Tab", "Web Panel" & as separate Window.

  • @dLeon said in Todoist for Chrome:

    Not strictly true - if you run the app in Chrome (instead of going directly to https://chrome.todoist.com/?mini=1 ) you get a miniature version of the full website version. This looks slightly different but does exactly the same. I realise now that this means the app is pretty pointless (whether you have it on Chrome or Vivaldi). I'm therefore going to do as you suggest and ditch the app (on both browsers).

    Many thanks for your help - much appreciated! I shall now continue trialling Vivaldi and hope it comes up trumps - the signs are good so far.

    Yes, you right.

    I help another one with New Tab extension (just 2~3 hours before you) but work same like Todoist app. That extension problem is absolutely nothing in it except a script contain around 4 lines of code to open an url in new blank tab.

    Todoist script slightly better. At least it does manipulate how the local view would look like.

  • @RedLenin It worked for me for one year - until last update of Vivaldi! I never used the App, because it´s only a small version of the website.
    But the extension worked well and now I get a blank popup, when I click on the extension icon. (see uploads)

    Chrome:

    So I think it has to do something with the last update of Vivaldi and IMHO it is that one:
    Upgraded to Chromium branch 58

    It works in Chrome 57 (Stable Channel) and is not working in Vivaldi 1.9.811.13 which changed to Chromium 58.
