Would you like us to remember you?

  • You always ask, but you never do ... why is that?

  • @sgunhouse:

You always ask, but you never do … why is that?

I've read a number reports by users experiencing this problem.
Let's turn this into a troubleshooting thread.

    1. What page are you logging in on?
    2. How long is the interval before you get logged out?
    3. Is the time interval always the same?
    4. What country are you logging in from?

    Post your results here, please!

  • I'm in the US of course … my bookmark is set for https://vivaldi.net/ so 90% of the time that's where I log in. And that particular page never remembers me after I restart the browser, period. I could close Opera now, restart it in 1 minute, and it would have forgotten me. :(

    • https://vivaldi.net/ (but have logged in on other pages with same result)

    • Logging in from US.

    • Doesn't matter how long my session is. A restart logs me out.

I've cleared cookies and cache before (through the clear history option in Chrome) and it doesn't help.

However, I was just gonna post this:

I have 14 cookies for vivaldi.net right now.

4 of them are session only. (minimalmode, roundcube_sessauth, roundcube_sessid,

4 expire in like 43 minutes (prefviewsplitter, composesplitterv, addressviewsplitter and addressviewsplitterd)

There's 1 that says "Indexed database", but I assume that's local storage or something as it has no name, content, created date, expire date etc.)

The rest (names have IDs in them or something) all expire way in the future.

All but one is "secure connection only" and most are "HTTP only". A few are accessible to scripts.

, but I then manually clicked "remove" on all the cookies in the cookie viewer including "Indexed database".

Now I'm able to restart and still be logged in. Will have to see how long it works though.

Edit. Session still remaining after restarts. Wonder if it was something in the index db for this site.

Edit: Couple more restarts of Chrome and now I'm logged out. Darn. (test)

    2. as soon as I restart the browser I have to log in again

    • I block cookies for all third party servers

  • Been trying to get it to log me out after restarting Chrome for a while now and not having any luck. Trying all kinds of things to trigger the problem and can't (atm at least).

  • But just got logged out without even restarting. So weird.

    4. From the UK

    • I allow cookies for vivaldi and don't delete them when I close my browser.

  • I log in via my My Blog Posts page.

I haven't timed the interval before I get logged out nor checked to see if it is always the same. But, if I had to estimate, I'd say if I leave my computer alone / idle for around half an hour to an hour, I WILL be logged off by the time I come back to my computer.

And like other people here, a restart of my Browser will always wind up in me having to log in again. I use Opera 11.64.

I am logging in from the USA.

  • [ol]

    • vivaldi.net/forum
    • about 30 to 45 minutes (guestimate)
    • yes (probably, see "guestimate")
    • Germany
      [/ol]

I 'solved' it by setting the page to an user defined reload every 20 minutes.

  • But, your fix would probably only solve the problem aspect of having to log in again after a certain idle period. It probably won't fix the problem aspect of having to log in again after a Browser restart, would it, QuHno?

  • Correct.

But I have no problem with entering the L/P once per day :D

    http://vivaldi.net/blogs/dashboard

About 20 - 40 minutes (Opera 12.16). In Opera Blink (Developer version), I need to log in after every browser restart (it doesn't remember me even though I check the box).

    Yes.

    Argentina.

  • I use Firefox here, in the USA. A restart of the browser means having to log in again. This site is the only site that has this form of "memory trouble" most other sites won't forget me until I do a major house-cleaning, at that time I will have to sign on again with everybody that I have business with.

  • OK, I guess I am the oddball here.

    I never check "Remember Me".

So I guess I don't mind this behaviour and don't see it as an issue.

Yes if the browser is closed in mid session I have to log in again. No problem, in fact it would be my preference.

  • Interesting. I never log out and I never get logged out. Hell, at this point I don't remember my password.
I use Chrome, Opera and Dolphin
    All for Android…

Exactly! For example … MyOpera, the avast Forums, my BlogSpot Blog will survive my computer's frequent BSODs, lockups and random reboots without having to log in again after I get my computer running again.

Vivaldi on the other hand, any micro hiccup like Opera Browser throwing an "Opera Needs to Restart" message … and it's hello RE-Log In.

  • Still seeing this issue FYI.

  • OHHHHH YEAHHHHHH! Most definitely.
And the accompanying even more brutal - Vivaldi having to load 100% from scratch because nothing seems to be cached.
