Feature requests for 1.9 / 1.10

  • @pafflick said in Feature requests for 1.9 / 1.10:

Native support for custom CSS / JavaScript by either entering the code into the browser settings or providing a path to CSS & JS files stored locally or on a web server. We should be able to specify whether the styles/scripts should apply to one site/domain or globally.

This would be nice but also for the time being it's pretty simple to make a chrome extension to do it. I used this website tutorial (https://blog.lateral.io/2016/04/create-chrome-extension-modify-websites-html-css/) to make an extension to format a weather website to better fit the web panel and it works pretty well. It would also be cool if you could specify a CSS / Javascript profile for just a web panel.

  • Scroll tabs instead of shrinking (Similar to Firefox)
In Firefox if you open too many tabs, at a set minimum width the tabs will stop getting smaller and instead you can scroll through them with the scroll wheel or an arrow button on either end of the tab bar.

  • Moderator

@PoLoMoTo I know that. There are plenty of extensions out there to do just that. The whole point of this request is to not to rely on any extension. That's the goal - having a feature rich browser with as little extensions as we could ever need (preferably none).

  • Enhanced Hibernation Control
Make it similar to The Great Suspender extension, i.e. have automatic tab suspension after some set time of disuse and have a white list of domains to never auto suspend.

  • @gaelle Page Loading animiated icon. Currently the only way to identify that a page is loading is the 'reload' icon to the left of the address bar changes to an X. Some of my database sites take a long time to reload a page, and until I 'discovered' above, I was never sure I had clicked the 'search' button. This was enough of an issue for me to post an enquiry to the forum, where a couple of very supportive users told me of that above.

The X indicator resolves my original issue - BUT I expect most users would not be aware of this feature. Making it animated would assist new Vivald users.

Please note: Chrome has an animated loading icon in the tab. My opinion is that it would not matter where it was located, the important thing is that it is animated...

    Thanks

  • Make bug tracking system public.

I noticed that people post in forum again and again about the same problem. Would be very helpful to open bug tracking system to the public. At least in read-only mode, subscribing to the bug status notifications would be enough.

  • Show keyboard shortcuts in tooltips

When hoovering over GUI elements it would be helpful to see currently assigned keyboard shortcuts to these commands. For example, when hoovering with mouse over Bookmarks icon in the side panel, its tooltip would show Bookmarks (F6)

This is really needed as sometimes I don't even notice that a page is still loading (no favicon indicator like in Opera).

  • Does anyone know if these feature requests will be accepted basing on upvotes or something else?

  • @luciothiago I suspect that the number of upvotes that a request gets is just an indication that its priority may be increased. There are many other factors that the developers will have to consider, not least of which is how much time and effort a feature takes to implement.

  • Support FLIF image format
FLIF is a novel lossless image format which outperforms PNG, lossless WebP, lossless BPG, lossless JPEG2000, and lossless JPEG XR in terms of compression ratio.

  • I would love to drag and drop Items from the downloadlist into folders on my desktop.

Also a Chrome feature i used alot was the autoexecution, once the download finished, when clicking the download item in the list.

An Option to delete the item from the list AND the file would be great too.

  • The right click menu of Screen Caputure. I think some users want to use screen caputure by right click menu.

  • @aderitobonito

    Beside

-Destroy site's cookies after you close the tab
-Destroy site's cookies after you close the browser
-Never destroy cookies for this site

I would suggest an further option:
    -Destroy site's cookies after 15min

  • Advanced Downloads Management

    Make multiple connections to server.

  • Would like to have a way to exclude domains or written URLs in the new History page.

Having a way to write a search that excludes would be the first step. Either a checkbox beside the search box or an old school way of using operators in the string.

Right clicking on a URL and excluding it would be the second convenience.

When using Google Maps it loads the history up. So I don't just want to exclude google.com, but google.com/maps/

If I understand you rightly, wouldn't browsing those sites in a private window solve the problem?

  • @kyu3a For inspiration the team could look at Opera's Neon which has the bottom screenshot verbatim. It also provides the ability to do PiP for HTML5 videos.

  • Better favicon support for web panels. Right now it always puts a white badge behind the favicon where the tab bar does not.

Also, some site's favicons never stick to the panels and require a reload every time the browser is opened.

    Have this issue for me.
