Vivaldi 1.8RC 2 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.8.770.46
-
When I go to the new History page, the selected date will always be the day when I started the browser. It will also always show me "No browsing history data for selected period" (even if there is plenty of data for that day). If I then use the navigation buttons, it will show me history data.
Is this correct behavior?Win7x64 Vx32

Sometimes clicking this icon does not open the typed words in the search box. This happens when you have a little time with Vivaldi open, the problem for when you open a new window. Image - Bug reported - VB-26922

@ahoj1234: I know that I can assign another shorcut, but I don't want to. I have assigned ALT+F4 to a mouse button so Vivaldi is the only program which I can't close this way (even not with the keyboard directly).
The focus wasn't lost, I tried to click the vivaldi window several times on different positions, but that doesn't do the trick...But Alt+F4 is definitely a Windows shortcut, not a Vivaldi shortcut - so I would expect it to be something to do with your Windows set-up... especially since you have been modifying things with that mouse button (edit: and because no-one else seems to have this issue). Did you try un-assigning the button and then pressing Alt-F4?

@JuniorSilva30 I think it really is a bug, I'm experiencing the same problem on my sister's laptop.

adding unused functions. Remember the philosophy of Opera Presto: Simple, light, fast, and functional.
?!? Are you sure you're talking about Presto?
Presto was indeed fast and functional, but it was by far the most customisable browser...

Hi Ruarí thanks for the update now that Vivaldi 1.8 came up stable.
I would suggest you can take into account for next versions the topic of popups "Remove popup windows setting: it will be brought back in the future when more issues are ironed out (VB-26878)"
For my daily work I use SalesForce CRM and when I need to attach files, it requests-opens a new windows popup to do that. On Vivaldi it opens on a new tab but I would prefer that opens in a new window.
I've found some threads from other users that need this kind of option popup window:
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/4022/open-popup-links-in-new-window
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/1552/window-open-doesn-t-work-properly/13Specially users that need to watch videos on a second display-window opening content of www.twit.tv
Hope you can help with this.
Thank you -

@mossman: I speak of presto, I did not say it was not customizable
Well, you said Presto was "simple" and talked about Vivaldi having "unused functions"... Presto was probably the most complex browser with the most (customisable) functions.

Just an FYI - Google released Chrome 57.0.2987.133 to the stable channel. This upgrade removed and reinstalled the Chrome Safe Storage key in the Keychain (as I cautioned it would) but doesn't seem to have broken Vivaldi on OS X.

Just want a fully portable version of Vivaldi
-
@littl3viking: Until sync is done, this probably is not possible. For instance, it is not possible to prevent Windows from encrypting passwords and extensions at the moment - so these cannot be transferred from one system to another. Pretty much everything else can.

With such great history and the change in US law (police state) ISP'S being able to sell it really great!!.
Also I have asked on fourums etc. and I don't get import export function on Menu>File>- Export only exports bookmarks easy enough but need full passwords...etc. cause configuring new PC.
- Import ONLY looks in current default file for imports and the ones you need do NOT reside in that directory.
Confusing! or under construction???!

@Dovelove Read the blog
For your eyes only
Vivaldi Technologies doesn’t collect your history data. All of this information is strictly private and local to your computer. What you get to see is the kind of data that could be tracked by third parties. Instead of trying to monetize it, we are giving you this data – for your eyes only. With the ability to analyze this information, you can decide if you want to adjust your online behavior or remove certain items from the list. -
@Dovelove Full data import/export via the browser itself is not possible yet. If you want to do that manually, take a look at this tutorial.
-
History tab still doesn't remember previous settings.
-
@mossman: No, not yet. All other versions of Vivaldi worked this way (1.0 - 1.8x) and it stopped working from one day to the other.
There is no modification for the mouse button. It's just an option in the logitech software to send "ALT+F4" on a single click. The default of windows doesn't get changed at all.
UPDATE: I did a quick test (disabling the hole logitech software): No change. -
@Gwen-Dragon Could you do me a favor and try to reproduce this bug ?
It does not happen all the time, when Vivaldi is a little open time he appears! You can make it work perfectly if you open the settings and close! But then the same problem comes back! Do not show what you typed by clicking on the icon in the search box! link text -
@Pesala You miss whole point HISTORY goes through ISP THAT is what they are making legal to sell and use I SAID ISP never said Viv.
