Symbol Encoding Mixed Up

  • Hi there,

My current Vivaldi installation is showing some mixed up encoding for some special symbols. See the image below for an example of the slack webpage.

I am running xubuntu 14.04 and Vivaldi 1.7.735.46 (64-bit). Unfortunately I do not remember when it first occured.

Any advice on how to fix this?

Those symbols suppose like search button at slack.com?

My first guess, there's something blocking remote font.
Extension like uBlock0 has remote font blocker.

    Second guess, mix content block.
Chromium more & more strict in this area.
But, all slack.com resources all from https.

    Third guess, broken Vivaldi profile.
But, let pass this thought for now.

  • @dLeon your second guess was right, it was ublock that was blocking remote fonts.

If you still want wide blocking remote fonts with uBlock0, add your favorite sites to exception.
uBlock0 has tick able font logo in its popup, that allow us to do just that easily.

  • Jep did exactly that. Thanks for the advice.
