FlashPlayer_01.29 won't install...
FlashPlayer_01.29 module install as part of Vivaldi install blocked by Sophos AV, under MacOS Sierra 10.12.3, consequently can't play any media in twitter etc.
Never heard of such flash version, did a quick google search and appears to be a fake/malware.
Flash has to be downloaded from Adobe site ONLY
select Mac, and version 24 PPAPI for opera - chromium
Thank you for the information, I have now installed the Adobe version and everything is working correctly.
It does somewhat concern me that Vivaldi pulled that piece of malware in as part of its installation process...
Sounds impossible to me, there is NO flash embedded with any Vivaldi version.
From where did you download the installer?
more on the subject
I've still got the Vivaldi dmg if anyone competent wants to check it out...
While @iAN-CooG actually ask about where you get the Vivaldi installer package, it usually more easy and smaller size if you provide the checksum of the file. That if you want to use the "check it out" method.
@dLeon Ok, this is what I get...
Jabbas-iMac:~ jabbathecat$ openssl sha1 /test/vivaldi.1.7.735.46.dmg
That illegal FlashPlugin request lies somewhere else.
Try to check your system with malware/virus checkers.
If you have time, you could also use trusted online scanners to scan your system. And it does slow.
@dLeon AV & AM is standard on all my osx & win machines, very disciplined about which web sites I visit so this incident is a very rare exception at this end...
I see you're good in safe guarding your system. That kind of discipline is a hard long time learn result.
The only I can think of why the warning kick in is false positive.
There were already some posts about false postive (for Mac & Windows) for a bunch of AV.
Other thing is, something actually made it to break in & intercept the installer. Which I definitely doubt it.
