Seize the moment with Vivaldi 1.7

@ASmith3: Known bug. Developers thought they had it fixed at one point, but no. More work needed.
-
This Bug still exists:

@3d0xp0xy: OK, it's still there, but the keyboard shortcut for it does not work, unfortunately.

@ucccr Actually, passwords in Chromium are encrypted with UUID and they are difficult to break (I don't know of any tool capable of decrypting them without the access to the UUID with which they were encrypted), whereas the Opera 12 passwords "protected" by a master password were vulnerable and - given a right tool - you could break them in a fraction of a second. The password manager is here: chrome://settings/passwords and the "master password" required to view them is your user account password.

I can seize the zoom (VB-2119). Thank you Jon & Vivaldi team. You make the browsing comfortable.

And last, but not least: Every browser, and Vivaldi is no exception to it, suffers from one serious flaw: If you open more than one window and forget to close your "main" window last, then at the next start all of your important tabs are "lost".
I would be happy if Vivaldi asked "Merge the tabs to the main window?" when I hit the close button of a sub window.
As other people point out, you can recover the tabs of the closed window from the tab trash bin, so this issue isn't very critical and I can wait. But relying on the trash bin isn't a clean solution and I home some cleaner solution will be implemented in the future.
-
@MagicGuitar I can understand how someone can close the main window while forgetting that there are some tabs in another window. What I find harder to believe is that they then close the other window too before realising their error.
Instead of expecting software to implement all kinds of checks in a vain attempt to make it idiot proof, one should accept that mistakes happen, and take them as an opportunity to learn, rather than as something else to grumble about.

I think you guys could create a decently powerful organic marketing tool by adding screenshot hosting to this feature. When someone snaps a screenshot, automatically upload and just offer a link with vivaldi in the domain name. People will discover this browser more that way because users are sharing the urls. Not even an expensive thing to host, as you can automatically prune unaccessed images since it's not meant to be permanent, and image uploading is for screenshots captured by vivaldi only (no random images like imgur).

@colebantam: Also had this problem a few days ago. Win 7 64 bits, Vivaldi 64.

Is there yet the ability to import custom search engines from Opera?
-
@Chas4: Not yet.

I started using Vivaldy 1.7 as my main browser and I found very annoying bug with Backspace. Backspace key going back instead of deleting text in some text fields in some forums. I found several topics related to the same bug in this forum, some of them from 2 years ago... PLEASE fix this bug, because the browser is unusable for me. I use Backspace for deleting words in text fields and for going back to previous pages. That's why I don't want to remove Backspace from Vivaldi's shortcuts.

-
@Bahmud Yes, I know how to edit shortcuts, but kayovas does not want to remove the backspace shortcut because he/she uses it to Go Back.
The problem is that it sometimes goes back when editing text (not for me, but maybe still on some sites).
-
I edited Backspace shortcut, but this is workaround, not solution of the problem. I tried to use Ctrl/Alt + arrow, but it is way less easy to use, than Backspace. I return to Firefox for now, beside the Backspace bug, Vivaldi have issues with Xmarks and Lastpass... Hope all those problem will be solved in future versions. Thank you for the quick responses!!!

@ayub: Great idea - will look into this one
