Background tab

  • Hey, first of all: Thanks to everybody involved in the vivaldi-project! I missed functions like the zoombar, integrated mail-client etc. To the subject: I think background tabs in the right-click-content-menu would be helpful...

Yes but middle click is way faster (and is already working)

  • of couse but notebooks usually have no middle click

I use mostly thinkpads and dell E series notebooks, purposely because of the third button.

When not present, in Linux, is really easy to emulate the third button pushing together the left and right buttons.

In windows this can be attained with a bunch of utilities, and sometimes with the function of the mouse driver itself.

    How you prefer.

    BUT

One advantage of thist kind of solution is that works systemwide while a vivaldi menu will work just on vivaldi.

  • I always use my Logitech M570 trackball. You roll the ball with your thumb, you have a scroll wheel + 4 other buttons (left, right, back and forward) - and no need for a flat surface to roll it around on.

  • I don not need no new HID.

Maybe you can tell me a reason, why it is not possible to insert a few lines of code, which would be helpful.

  • When i am sometimes forced to use laptop without mouse then i use this extension. It makes browsing more efficient without additional clicking. So while option in right-click-content-menu is needed as a standard browser functionality i don't think its comfortable to use it.

  • @greenenemy

That's a nice option too, thanks.

BTW I still prefer the "Unix way" because is consistent across the system.

eg: I use the middle click to close the tabs not just on browsers but also in other programs. Say Notepad++

  • Almost every major browser support background tab by default, it is essential for some users.
