Show Extensions Visibility Toggle - Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.7.715.3
-
Edit (duplication)
-
Thanks for the first snapshot in year 2017! Also thanks for fixing problems with screenshot feature, looking foward for new possibilities with screenshot feature
-
Maybe I didn't notice it before, but I see it now: the "Always Load Pinned Tabs" option IF you have Lazy Load Restored Tabs enabled. That's great and much-needed. Thanks for listening.
-
I also realized that option! Had not she before! Very good to have that option! Sorry for my English!
-
When will Sync come in?
Still missing it more than all these other little features introduces in last versions! -
Also… When would a better comment system be available here... I just want to subscribe to replies to my own comment. I literally get spammed if I subscribe with the current system. Cheers.

Show Extensions Visibility Toggle. This one neat. A very welcome addition.
-
Thanks for new snapshot! When Vivaldi is maximized and I will move my mouse cursor to the top-right corner of the screen and do a click then browser should be closed (like other Win apps). But there is few blank pixels on the right side of the browser, so nothing happens. It is little bit annoying. Actually if you do double-click there, browser is switching from fullscreen to window. (Win-7 64bit, Viv-32bit, screen resolution 3840x2160)

Was about to suggest pretty much that. There are extension button I'll want easily accessible but wouldn't minding hiding most of the time such as ublock and stylish, but then there are ones like 1password that I'll want visible at all times.
-
This looks a lot more like the additional options or menu button you see on mobile phones, so it doesn't make that much sense. Is the button going to get further functionality in the future as a menu?
-
@ Ruari,
In new version of Google Chrome, I see the extension icons are small and that looks good.
Requesting to add option to display small extension icons in Vivaldi. Since I would like some extension to be displayed always.
Does the current option will either hide all extension / un-hide all extensions ? -
But how is pinning one any different than not hiding one using the existing "hide" function behind each extension icon? Isn't it two different ways to accomplish the same thing?
-
It's the same button that is used in Chromium for the same purpose (hidden icon (+ menu)).
But indeed, a bit of design might be good on that button. Maybe an horizontal "…" ? Or a patchwork of all the icons hidden ? -
Happy New Year!
Here are some new snapshot regressions since v1.6:
-
Vivaldi 1.7 snapshots are still using Chrome 55.0.2883.92. Not good for Mac users suffering from Renderer crashes that got fixed in 55.0.2883.95.
-
When customizing a theme colour, fun things happen when editing/inputting hex values from the keyboard. (Had to resort to using cut/paste to change values.)
-
After using “Start Page / History / Clear Browsing Data…”, Vivaldi goes into the Chrome settings page.
I was also somewhat surprised by some of the Chrome settings that you chose to keep enabled, namely:
- Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
- Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
- Use a prediction service to load pages more quickly
Just curious… How concerned should we be by some of the Google Settings that are enabled but don’t have counterparts in Vivaldi Settings? What Google Chrom{e,ium} settings still control active Google code, and what settings are effectively NOPs because the corresponding code has been neutered during the Vivaldi build process? I realize that some vestigial code has to remain active so extensions don't break but on/off switches and controls should still be accessible.
Vivaldi seems to be at an awkward stage where it's taken on a life of its own but is also still joined at the hip to an undead Chrome zombie.
Thanks!
[ OS X 10.11.6, clean standalone install, fresh profile, no extensions. ]

I see. Then Chromium made a weird choice using that design for an extension button, when it's usually used on Android and such as a button for extra options or a menu.
Not sure what alternative I would like, but a patchwork sounds like probably the best idea. Like, a grid of up to 4 extension buttons as the button itself, and then you click on it and it expands all extension buttons or something like that.
Or maybe just the extension icon that looks like a puzzle piece or something.
-
It's a somewhat arbitrary limitation, to save a person from accidentally trying to download an unreasonably large image. It is not written in stone, and may be subject to possible adjustment at some time in the future, depending on feedback. (this is per the developer who introduced the feature)
-
Sync is a huge and complex project, which has been under development for longer than the browser has been public. It will be released when it's ready.
-
It may be closer than you think, but you didn't hear it from me…
-
This is a new button that toggles any buttons that is currently in the toolbar. Click to hide, click again to show. It's separate from the existing hide option which can only be disabled from the extension page.

Upgraded as the bookmark issue had me stuck on 1.6. Really love the progress and I have been recommending Vivaldi to many Chrome users who like it much better.
Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!
