Page Title Tab Notifications - Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.6.687.3
-
For today's snapshot we introduce a new type of in tab notification that works especially well with pinned tabs on messaging and social media websites and provide a new way to jump to a parent directory on a website. In addition, we fix a number of important bugs as we start to stabilize Vivaldi 1.6.

I expect some of you will notice that this does not work with Gmail. The reason for this is that they do not update the number in the same part of the title (the start). Relaxing our check would cause other sites to show a false positive, unless we did a special Gmail only fix and we would prefer not maintain a list of hardcoded sites which we treat differently.
In any case with Gmail however there is a workaround. Gmail has had something like this available via their Labs for almost 6 years now. It is not as pretty as ours but it works. To enabled it click on the Gmail "Options" icon (it looks like a cog or gear), then choose "Settings → Labs → Unread message icon".

YES! Neat new feature that I have been longing for! Now I don't have to keep checking my pinned e-mail tab every 5 seconds afraid I received an important e-mail! Thank you!

Delta update installed at first try even under squid proxy at work. I feel lucky
Now testing. -
[Search field] Added setting for always opening result in new tab (VB-23648)
that's appreciated, next step is to add the option, or change current behaviour, to have alt-enter to reuse current tab, pratically it should invert the normal behaviour.
both work when deleting typed history in search field. -
Nice update, thank you!
It would be great if there was a way to bring back the old Opera 12 gesture to navigate to the parent directory (up + left). I used it very often, and this is one of the last things that I still miss. Although this update is already a good improvement on that point. -
Nice update!
Just a suggestion: Clicking on the domain name while holding CTRL should result in going to the home domain, and not removing the TLD as it is currently the case. For example: Holding CTRL and clicking on vivaldi at
https://vivaldi.net/en-US/teamblog/188-page-title-tab-notifications-vivaldi-browser-snapshot-1-6-687-3results in opening the webadress https://vivaldi/
It should better redirect to https://vivaldi.net/ -
Nice new features thanks for that. Found some translation issues:

Maybe a bug: Windows 7 64-bit, Vivaldi 1.6.687.3 (Official Build) (32-bit)
If I connect to my localhost with a custom certificate I cannot proceed to my site because the "ADVANCED" link and "Back to safety" button in the page aren't clickable.
"Your connection is not private
Attackers might be trying to steal your information from localhost (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID"

Thank you, i tested the tab notification with yahoo mail and it did work but it didn´t work with gmail
-
The problem is that it is not translated? This is due to the fact that strings are not created for translators, yet.
-
I've just reported this behavior in the last snapshot 1.6.682.3 and opened Bugreport VB-23743.
You can use the tab key instead of the mouse as workaround. But I switched back to the old version 1.5.676.6.mf
-
Right-click + ScrollWheel to change tabs is still broken on all sites.
-
It's VB-23710 and it has been fixed
-
Awesome!
-
In the next version?
-
FWIW Albeit after a total reinstall of Vivaldi, due to a total reinstall Windows 10, One Note Clipper doesn't work anymore, which is a major pain.Looking forward to testing, as Vivaldi at the moment i so much faster than Chrome!

VB-23648 at last!
Now please add dropdown with Up/Down key after typing in Search Field and make it compatible with this new option.
Also please add favicons of selected Search engine already in Search field! -
Hmm, settings/tabs/tab features/switch tabs by scrolling. works
-
Nope, but that's VB-23899
