Snapshot 1.5.618.8 - Drag tabs between windows and performance improvements

  • Vivaldi Team

In today's snapshot we provide the ability to drag tabs between windows. Unlike other browsers you can also drag tab stacks and tab selections. And of course, the old method via the context menu still works for those who prefer it. We have also improved theming performance by roughly 400%. This also improves browser startup time! If you haven't used themes before, now is a great time to get started.

    First 1!!!111!1One!1

(I always dreamed to do this at least once…)

  • Thanks!
I just did a quick and dirty tab test. Dragged the tab back to the original window. Then the tab disappeared, but the window is still there … (you can get to it through the Window menu).

    Keep up the good work.

Thanks :) very much, nice Snapshot :)

  • faster start, thx

Opening new tabs is very slow in this build.

  • Thanks for the hard work guys! Has there been a timetable given on when we can expect browser syncing? It's the one key feature keeping me from using Vivaldi full-time.

Never a timetable was or will be released. The policy is "When it's ready" :)
But they are working on it !

  • Same here on Mac OS 10.12

  • When Vivaldi window is maximised, I cannot creat a new windows by dragging a tab. Running Windows 10

  • Keyboard shortcuts are still incorrect. OSX 10.11.6, german layout.
Had to change the affected shortcuts and wrong keys show up, but different ones than before. Namely but not limited to the keys "ü" and "+". "-" seems to be correct now.

  • I don't see it mentioned above for some reason, but the long-ago-reported single-key shortcut issue appears fixed. I don't recall anyone from Vivaldi commenting on the problem in the first place, so I guess that's appropriate.

  • Thanks for this snapshot!

I have a feature request to enhance tab dragging: I would like it when we are able to drag a tab/a tab stack/selected tabs to the trash icon, to close those tabs.

Closing a tab stack, for example, is then more convenient than using the context menu to close the tab stack.

  • Vivaldi is getting better and better…..

  • It isn't very slow, just the tab animation is slower, but if you are disabling animations (in the Vivaldi settings –> appearance), it is fast.

I have problems with this version, the default zoom interfaces, and websites. If you start the browser, and then open the page, the page, I get the approach 100% if you open the same or another page again will zoom to 120%, as it is in the settings. When you close and re-open your browser, the problem returns. Still running until the second page is displayed according to your desired settings.

  • I could move the tab between another windows by dragging the tab! But Vivaldi crashed! I use Vivaldi 1.5.618.8 on macOS Sierra 10.12.

A change has been done on the shortcuts. They display wrongly, indeed, but now, they work. It will probably display with the name the qwerty layout has for them.

Lol, indeed, there was an issue with shortcuts, especially on other layout than qwerty. A change has been done, and it fixes a lot. Wrong keys might appear in the shortcuts settings though, but it works anyway :)

  • Yes, but if you are drag the tab to the tray, it opened a new window with the tab you are dragged it. :)
