Snapshot 1.3.582.3 - Web Panel improvements and a new Snapshot logo
-
I'd use only the snapshots. The "stable" is already history.
In Linux, practically none of the web browsers have pinching/zooming abilities on a touchscreen laptop. But in Windows, all web browsers work; gestures, zooming in and out etc, but the only web browser that doesn't do this is Vivaldi. The only action it can do is scrolling. One thing the other browsers don't do is tab stacking. But, without touchscreen actions, the tab stacking is losing value, at least for me.
Is there a plan to include touchscreen actions in Vivaldi?

Even though it's a trivial issue, I also don't really care for the new Snapshot logo. I'd have gone for a reverse of the Final logo, where it'd be a red V on a white background, or if black is the thing, then have a red V inside the black.
Still, only a minor gripe. Won't stop me from using it.

Because, there is no link to /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/vivaldi in /usr/bin. Anyway, if you have vivaldi-snapshot, just make a symlink to vivaldi. You can paste vivaldi-snapshot anywhere, if you want.
-
I have been trying the new snapshot, and found some links in reddit don't want to open.
Maybe something with the pages they're linked to, but worth checking to see if anyone else is getting something similar.
All said, Vivaldi is getting light years ahead of Chrome the memory hog!
Have a nice weekend everyone -
I like the new logo and the additional options for webpanels. Only thing I noticed is Vivaldi quits unexpectedly if you try to press escape to exit fullscreen mode in a youtube video.

No such problem here. Which platform, which version, which video?

Win 7 64 Bit, Viv 32
Using an OLD Northgate (Alps switch) PS 2 Dovark keyboard here, other than old keys all's OK here, tried it every-way.
-
I get it now. I just looked and saw it now. I mentioned it because there wasn't much acknowledgement, but thanks for pointing it out, though you don't have to be an ass about it.
And the absolute corner rounding feature was just brainstorming, but it's not a bad idea for those who want it.

latest version, osx 10.11.6, every single video I tried

Always worked before this snapshot…

This Snapshot has a new regression:
I have implemented the keyboard short CTRL-ALT-P to disable keyboard shortcuts. Upon this new snapshot today, utilizing CTRL-ALT-P does indeed still disable keyboard shortcuts, but does not re-enable the keyboard shortcuts when utilized again as it has in the past and would be expected.
Thank you for your fine efforts, overall.

With every new update, I still wish I had the option to disable the auto-check. It would make every future update easier on my mental condition. As it is now, the two separate windows, size of windows and order of the tasks on the task bar mess up.
Thank you for everything else!! I mean it.

I may be bragging, but is it possible to draw side panels over the website? Isn't the UI on the different layer than a website? It'd give better performance IMO.
-
OK, thanks everyone, the problem must be here somehow.
PgUp - decrements by 10%
Home - jumps to 50%, 25%, and then 20%
Up Arrow - jumps to 200%, 400%, 500% -
All HTML5 videos are corrupted now.

Don't know if it's a "bug" or not, has changed. On download of file if in Dir or Folder where file has identical name it doesn't give the option to overwrite the old or make new. Just appends file name with the (no) addition.
Seems very stable and fast very please. Scared of commenting on anything some can other can't.

Sorry. On re-reading, my post was a bit belligerent, and that was not my intention. The suggestion for the option was a genuine one, and one that probably would not be too difficult to implement.
Remember, Themes are still a work-in-progress, and what the Vivaldi team has done in their initial release is a HUGE step in the right direction. And now they have to be extra careful not to "fix" somebody else's favourite feature, or to inadvertently "paint themselves in a corner" and be forced to make potentially unpopular changes down the road.
-
Hey, no worries. All good.
I understand the themes are IP, so they are going to get polished in the future. I love that they included them in the beginning, even though it did as you said, ruined someone's favorite UI feature here or there. It did a little bit of that for me before.
Can't wait till all that polishing is done, and we all have our favorite features. Is 2020 here yet?

I do not like the colour black for the snapshot logo but i love to try snapshots!
The new black snapshot logo does not really fit to my browsers colour.
It is ok if you send us a black snapshot logo.
It is "the basic black snapshot logo" (or something like that ;))But I have something in mind like a white (or any other colour or multiple colours) "V" is final (like it is now) and a red (or any other colour or multiple colours) "V" is snapshot.
Please can we change/modify the colour of this black snapshot logo like we can do with the browser colour?
Have a nice weekend!
