Snapshot 1.3.551.13 - Closing in on 1.3

  • Vivaldi Team

We are busy working on getting 1.3 ready for a release to our stable stream. As such here is another update with a focus on bug squashing.

At this stage, to prevent delaying the 1.3 stable release, we are primarily interested in anything that has broken since 1.2 stable. You can help us by staying on topic and highlighting these issues below. If you want to discuss new features or long standing issues to be addressed after 1.3, please use our forums. As always, thanks for your help. We could not do this without you!

Was waiting for this post like forever since I installed this version via autoupdate! :)

Could you also look at VB-12881 which was reintroduced a few weeks ago? (after it was fixed for a couple of builds…)

  • Performance of the UI is a general problem. I know you keep saying its fast and responsive, but it isn't fast enough.
That is my main problem with the browser.

  • Last 2 or 3 snapshots browser have annoying feature: when clicking URL in RSS-reader, chat, skype - Vivaldi window becomes active. 2 or 3 snapshots ago Vivaldi have opened URLs in background and that was quite comfortable. Linux version, if it necessary.

  • If the option "Open Bookmark Panel Items with Single Click" is selected in settings, CTRL+Left Click opens an increasing number of tabs.

  • Images position was center not left.

  • (VB-19949) Middle-click on Tab Bar separator opens a new tab

  • Just a FYI. Alt-Enter to open keyword/link in new tab from address bar still appear to be broken. I am not sure if I am supposed to file a bug report after every snapshot release. So posting it here.

  • Vivaldi / Linux Manjaro: flickering in page view, while loading the page and scroll the. Since the last three snapshot versions.

  • Opening in background seems like a feature I would like, but I think opening in foreground is the intended behaviour.

  • When you are reading many RSS-titles and click them to open in browser - it is not comfortable to make alt+tab each time.

  • Guys I love Vivaldi, simply a brilliant browser. I celebrate each Snapshot :-)

  • tab switching as mentioned is broken for me, but with ctrl+tab and only if I start the browser. when I've switched one time, then next ones are correct
    Vx64 Win7x64

  • Im still having issues with tab switching using the scroll wheel. I used to be able to hover my mouse over the tab bar and use my scroll wheel to switch tabs. Win 10 x64

  • Cant log in PlayStation®Store.

  • Thank, guys!
Bugs that persist in 1.2/1.3 versions:
1 - When sorting the boorkmarks by name, address etc, the bookmarks shuffle with the folders.
2 - Middle click doesn't work in history.
3 - Hovering the mouse over a bookmark, it is not shown the link in the status bar.

    Windows 10 64-bit
    Vivaldi 1.3.551.13 32-bit

  • BUGS

Please fix these UI bugs since 1.3 started:

    • SD thumbnails are no longer rounded when I put rounded corners.

    • When I go to websites like, say, spotify or vox.com, then the text for non-current tabs and other tab UI stuff like tab stack indicators, the non-transparent look of the tabs themselves(particularly on vox), and the new tab button, audio icon and trash icon are dark, when they should be light. This wasn't an issue in 1.2, but it is an issue here.

    • Some parts of the UI, like tabs, look less rounded than they were in the first snapshot of 1.3. I set my roundedness to 4px. If you look at what 4px border-radius looks like, it looks more rounded than how tabs in Vivaldi look like at 4px. At least slightly more, anyway.

    • The loading bar shows up over the security icon in the last recent snapshots, where it used to show up behind the security icon. This looks weird now. I think it would be better the way it looked before.

I really would like these fixed before the stable release if you could!

  • Agreed about the corner radius. 14 pix is actually 4 pix on the tabs, and not noticeable at all on the Speed Dial.

It would be nice if you could remove the close button on the Speed Dials by default. New users may not know how to recover them from Trash. The right-click menu can be used if one really wants to delete them.

(VB-13687) Close Button on Speed Dial Thumbnails Should be Optional

  • Yes, and it's changed a few times. SD thumbnails and tabs used to look accurately rounded in the first snapshot of 1.3, but now they barely look rounded.
