New function idea(selection boxes)

  • I have not seen any thing like that in any other browser but it might be just my incompetence. I am proposing to implement a function that when (for example) i press RMB+LMB then i start drawing selection box on any page. After releasing the buttons i can left click inside selection to use default functionality eg open all links in selection box in the background,if i click outside box then selection disappears(also with esc button). When i right click inside then list of options would appear ; download all files , download all pictures, copy text , copy links, take a screenshot of this area, search only in this area etc. It could be combined with ctrl to make multiple selection boxes and with alt to subtract inside them. What do you think about something like that? I know that it would collide with rocker gestures in my way of implementing it. • Today I had to download a few files from a site and also thought that something like "download all" would be cool.
Maybe CTRL and draw with RMB?
Wasn't this implemented in the real Opera 12 or was that an extension I used? I remember of such a function… Long ago...

  • For me, a links panel would be enough instead. It used to be useful in some scenarios.

This souds reasonable but i like to do everything with a mouse thats why rmb+lmb.

    Sorry, no clue.

I think that it would be helpful even with links panel to narrow down to links that are of your interest.

  • most of the things you would want to do via the context menu sound pretty hard to actually implement, because webpages are structured differently than how you select.
Imagine a website that just has a left and a right column (both having items therein) and you select a rectangle across both in the middle of the page.
