No, that's not what 'default' means. I want to be able to type "Talk:Vivaldi" in the search bar and get taken straight to the Wikipedia talk page of the Vivaldi article. I can do that in Firefox. And ideally I would like an additional search bar where if I type 'Vivaldi', I get taken to the corresponding Wiktionary entry.

Awesome thanks a lot for this precious help and patience.

We just reproduced the behavior you described both in Vivaldi and Firefox and it works the same way on our machines. From what we understand your default search engine in Firefox is set to be Wikipedia. You can do the same with Vivaldi. Go to Settings > Search > and set Wikipedia as your default search engine.
As a second search bar you can use the url bar and type its first letter in the front (b for bing, g for google, etc) and add the words you're searching for. -
Please read our reply above we share to @oulenz. There are already two search bars available

Sorry for the trouble you encountered and thank you for letting us know about this issue. We're looking into it.

It didn't use to be this way in Firefox. They changed it, i.e. took away customisability. Luckily, someone (Mike Kaply) wrote an extension (Keyword Search) that restores the previous behaviour. Obviously, that extension does not exist for Vivaldi.
You talk about Vivaldi being all about users being able to use the browser the way they want. Well, I don't want to have to type g every. single. time. I do a quick google search.
I completely understand if you decide other issues are more urgent now. But I want you to acknowledge that users should be able to change the default search engines for the address and the search bar separately, and that you will fix this at some point.
When you try to convince me I should just type g in front of every search I worry deeply that you are not serious when you talk about empowering users. Until you convince me otherwise, I won't switch from Firefox at home.

Wow, somehow I had missed noticing when bookmarklets were enabled to begin with.
