Happy holidays: Vivaldi browser Beta 2 is here in time for holidays
-
Today, we launched Vivaldi browser Beta 2 just in time for Christmas!
As the holidays are almost upon us, it is also a good time to look back and reflect on the year that has gone by.
-
Congratulations
-
Thanks so much for the Beta 2 release!
Though I notice the numbering is still 1.0 in the about page. Is this Beta for 1.0 or for 2.0?
Also, is that the sound of my CPU and RAM usage going down??? We'll see.
I notice the panel thing is snappier. I think the UI is probably snappier than before!
-
Top Grlz & Boyz !! 2 all β¦. hope we all have a great 2016
-
Alright, one thing I'm immediately noticing . . .
While the UI is definitely snappier, going to some sites like Bing and Yahoo, I noticed the color didn't change from red to the site's color the first time. When closing the tab and then opening a new one to go to those sites again, it changed, but the first time it didn't.
CPU usage is still strangely high with some processes taking 2-3%

Thanks for this update!
I'm having troubles with auto update: Update notification shows in the usual popup at browser-start. After clicking on "Install now" I get an error message saying something like:
An error occurred while retrieving the update information. Make sure you have proper internet connection.
Since I'm posting this from within Vivaldi, I assume my internet connection is quite sufficient.
I tried updating 1.0.303.52 (Beta) (32-Bit) to this new Beta 2 on Windows 10 x64.Thank you again for your great work and an exciting year! Looking forward to the next Vivaldi-Year

Mine shows Beta 2 on Win7 x32

Hi Jon,
that's a nice Christmas gift!
I'm missing the download link. So, hereby: https://vivaldi.com/download.The update within the browser itself fails (Help > Check for updatesβ¦) fails:

Great news!
But the search bar is still useless as it can't be set independently from quick search.
-
On the previous update, I complained about the tabs constantly and annoyingly closing on a seemingly random way.
I was going through the settings just now, and I think I have found the culprit.
"Double click to close tab".I have a feeling it sometimes registered clicks as double clicks, accidentally closing the tabs. I've disabled it it 5 minutes ago, so far so good. lol. Anyway if you don't hear anything about it anymore, it's good news
Can we put this one down to user error?
Can't wait to see what 2016 will bring us. (more customisable speeddial perhaps?
sorry, had to sneak it in)
Keep up the good work guys. Even though i'm not French: Vive Vivaldi!!
Happy holidays and a very healthy 2016
-
Cheers and happy holidays to Jon von T and all the devs.
-
Merry Christmas to you all, too
-
Nooo, why now? I am stuck at work for the next 6 hours and have to wait until i get home until I can get the new betaβ¦
But thanks a lot for the new beta (in advance ^^)

Need global page zoom.

Now that's GREAT! I finally had just started migrating to Vivaldi (replacing my still-used Opera 12.16 on Linux that is failing on more and more sites now), but was extremely unhappy with the automatic font and image scaling, which gave me too large text and blurry images.
Todays update fixed this, guess I'll now make it my default browser.
Still missing some of the Opera features that made life so easy for many (12?) years, but with the current state of vivaldi I can use it and wait for them to arrive
Thanks, and all the best luck! -
Happy New Year from Russia!
Thank you all, FRIENDS, for Vivaldi! And the battle for free and good international networks and browsers must go on! -
Whats new from latest snapshot?
-
Thank you, Vivaldi gave me hope again about the future of Web browsers.
-
Keep the good work but keep in mind that there is 0 reasons to switch yet so try to get some for the vivaldi 1.0 release
And add POST support to custom search engines, pls
