Vivaldi launches its first beta
-
Still unusable to me due to high disk usage that freezes V pretty much every time you open a tab.
-
Tons. If you explore everything Opera 12.16 can do, expect to see Vivaldi move in that direction.
-
Could you ever? I was only aware that you could (and still can) drag from the address bar to the bookmarks bar.
-
I don't get that on any of my boxes here. What sort of resources does your system have?
-
A Core i7 with 16 GB of RAM. The disk is a standard WD Caviar Blue. But I don't think it's a matter of resources, I also have been using V as my main browser on my work laptop, crappy laptop, and it works just fine there. The only thing I can think of that is different is the anti-virus, but I just disabled it and no performance gain whatsoever.
-
Perhaps we could implement support for Scope Interface just for Vivaldi.
-
sorry I have a noobie question here, So i was using the older tech prefix and still fine watching twitch tv but with the beta I can't watch it anymore. Is there any of extension or plug in do i have to install ?
I'm using windows 10 home and adguard extension with the beta. -
Congratulations, this is my new choice for browsing the web! I LOVE it!

Excellent! I would like as part of this release suggest something. I think we should not integrate a mail client in the browser. A browser is just a browser. Putting extra functionality makes it heavier, slower. They could overtake Opera, and launch a separate email client available for Linux.
Thanks

For me, it's 1) user configurable Speed Dial: much smaller thumbnails, edit thumbnail text, have number of columns per setting w/o having to expand window; and 2) scalable print preview (or a way to switch to another browser without having to copy and paste).
-
Its the desktop notifications for me. Go Vivaldi !!!
-
I'm on the other side of the spectrum. No way I'm going back to having a separate mail and RSS client. Also, keep in mind that the lack of mail client was one of the complains the Opera team had to face when they went with the new version. So if Vivaldi wants to cater to that ye old Opera audience, it might be the best for them to include it.

IMO: It's apparent he never used OLD Opera

Have you performed the "Delete 'Top Sites' Maneuver"?

Win7 64, Viv 32
Well it HAD to happen but I think I figured it out from a previous post by someone before.
After about a 1/2 Hr. of really GREAT Vivaldi experience it crashedโฆCPU 100% and free memory went to pot, I know exactly when it happened.
I have two TABS with streaming service BOTH audio, one a radio station ( with Flash) and other Soundcloud. When Soundcloud automatically loaded WITHOUT any input by me as in play button. Win Taskmaster showed 100% CPU and Free memory going down til Win LOW MEMORY warning poped up. Many others surely must be having SAME problem, I really can't believe I am the only one using my computer in this way.
If Soundcloud ( that I didn't want running or ask to) hadn't loaded it NEVER would have crashed! Still Viv is resource hungry without that problem, I can't open other programs or use it as I want without thinking all the time to prevent crashing so it's back to FF and putting up with THAT for now.
IF these problems are all because the way the Chrome engine was developed BAD CHOICE!!!โฆbut **I see why you had NO CHOICE.When there's a gorilla in the room you don't want to aggravate it..especially when the PUBLIC is feeding it bananas.**
PS: or ARE bananas. This has been an EXTREMELY long week for me. I have sympathy for ALL with crises in their life, a computer seems trivial at that time, or in right cases could help. Family for all is important. Thanks world, I think you needed larger cake at celebrations ( Oh, I forgot you are HEALTHY Europeans.) -
Yep. Didn't help. What I see is a lot of access to JumpListIcons folder as others have said. That seems to be the thing make it lag the most.
-
Beyond some fundamental reconfiguring of the Speed Dial, I suggest moving the top area text off to the far right and maybe even putting it a drop down, so to free up more room on the page.
-
Congratulations Jon and the Vivaldi Team!!
Thank you for giving us hope after Opera 12.17! -
My sincere Congratulations
