Snapshot 1.0.257.3 - Visual tab cycler and better cookie management
-
Win 7 64 Bit, 8 Gig, Viv 32
I think on the download above it says:
Windows: 32-bit | 64-bit (experimental)
it MIGHT mean something not unless you are TRYING to help with 64. I think you'd have less problems with 32 for now.
-
If we don't test x64, the Devs won't know about bugs.
-
I'd like to have a list of tab titles with tab preview of selected entry – like Opera 12 did
I'd be very happy to have this options too!
-
No positive changes regarding my bugs in this build…
- When I type some special char (e.g. "@") to the webpage form field, the focus is stolen by address bar
- Some pages that works with another browsers don´t work in Vivaldi, e.g. www.mapy.cz (there is no possibilty to find the adequate route by choosing the start and destination point)
... and new bug regarding the Notes feature:
- When adding new note from the webpage text using the context menu, all added notes are duplicated
-
As said a bit above by The_Solutor there seems to be a workaround:
For people who want to workaround the language problem
Just to rename
\Vivaldi\Application\1.0.257.3\resources\vivaldi_locales*it* <–-(Italian example)
to
\Vivaldi\Application\1.0.257.3\resources\vivaldi_locales*en*
–------------------------------------------
The example above is for Windows, the actual path depends on the OS you are using.Little addon to this explanation, first rename your standard "en folder" to something like "en 1" or so. This prevents overwriting it.
Hope this will work for you

Just an extra thought regarding the "Top Sites" file in Users[MyUserName]\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default that I described above as being problematic on my system, though it seems the problem with mine was an acute case…
Watching the disk activity via the Resource Monitor, and also seeing the file size shooting up and down in a folder window pointed to that directory, I got the distinct impression that the problem is that the code is manipulating the file on disk rather than loading it into memory, manipulating it, then putting it back on disk when the manipulation is done. It reminded me (a little nostalgically) of watching the progress of a primitive Bubble Sort routine I wrote at school over 30 years ago that worked directly on the (5 1/4 inch floppy) disk holding a primitive "address book" database program.
Even if problems with this file are not common, it might be worth the Devs taking a look at the Chromium code that manipulates it, because it's acting like it was written by a 16 year old in the early 1980s. In BASIC.
-
But when you use alt+tab for tab cycling how do you want to fast switch through your other open programms / windows?
-
It is known as VB-2148
-
Mmh I got rounded upper corners and sharpend bootom corners on win 7 altough I would like sharp corners everywhere.
-
New build without blog post? My Vivaldi updated a few seconds ago…
-
Seems that way. It's offering me a new build .258.3. Might be a quick bugfix, but I'd like to see the release notes first
-
fixed (a.k.a. new snapshot)
-
you were just too quick
-
It is there now
-
My initial message was longer and explained to rename the EN folder to OLD, because it was written before the actual download.
Then I realized that the en folder was not present in that very build.
So I edited the message to provide simpler and more precise instructions.
In short, my instructions are correct.

So you are saying that Google Chrome has those same Topsites files ?
~

~
Even I wrote better code in BASIC than THAT schlock routine appears to be.
~
-
From what I can find on the web, yes. I don't allow Chrome on my system
-
Visual tab cycling turns of right mouse button tab switching.
-
thank you so much, i was getting really frustrated with vivaldi for that, and i was using the last "stable" version and updated to snapshot hoping it would go away but it didn't, but now it's fixed:)
