confirmed. W8.1 x64 with x32 build of VB (autodownload, the same setting - do not create a shortcut). Shortcut was created.

Anyway, it should not create a shortcut at all when (auto)updating (even if marked in 1st install to do so) since shortcut is already there or not. If yes, do not delete it. If no, do not create it.

They've been quite busy. I'm sure they just haven't decided at this point whether to prioritize this particular customization or not. I've been waiting longer to have the option to put bookmarks bar vertical at the side (ie since the day the bookmarks bar appeared) than you have to get your tabs moved next to the page, and I'm not grumpy about it. I'm pretty sure it will happen, but I realize every single request (there have been hundreds of them) can't receive immediate attention.

          bugs on downloads sections ..
when you downloads it is unstopable….
on button it is should be start and pause. to cancel should have the close X buttons..
should have estimated time remaining and percent to be downloads it.
and on setting should have the filechooser buttons to select different folder or places.

yes, the context menu appears on mouse down which makes mouse gestures impossible to use
glad you will look into this as this is really my main thing i want from a browser

              I too Dig this ! it'd be really helpful…
Concentrating on the ease of use and fast access to every part of Vivaldi, this should be considered in the following releases...
Tab Thumbnails are good but Vivaldi could make more use of them... something like what "g_bartsch" suggested....

Not sure this is already doable…
After a crash would be nice a prompt window on the next launch showing last tabs left open with a check/un-check next to the pages in order to switch off the tab that caused the crash (as in FF session manager).

OKey… Here's the Performance issues demonstration I'm always talking about... take a look at this GIF:
                  Performance Issues GIF

you can see several issues here :

                  1. Tab Title not changing unless clicked on.
                  2. Very Slow reaction time after clicking on the tab (you can see the click event by the yellow circle it makes)
                  3. Clicking on the Panel Trigger is so slow…

This is a system I use at work and it's old and slow... but the same problems I'm having here don't apply to ChrOpera (even the very first version : Opera 15). My own system is much more powerful than what I demonstrated but the UIs Sluggish reactions are even present there and since I'm picky about this, I tend to feel the lag from the very first use...

Sorry to bring this issue out over and over again but this time I felt some demonstration could help you pinpoint the problems faster and better.

Thanks for all the great efforts

You do realize that you're testing an alpha version, right?!
                    You're moaning at a very high level…

Although I won't be using Vivaldi as my default browser for a while yet, it's already my go to browser for the increasing number of sites that don't work well in Opera 12.17.

So, I added a page for Vivaldi to my Software Reviews site. I like the Site Info popup, which is a quick route to Site Preferences.

Keep up the good work — looking forward to Email and easier and more powerful customising options.

Speed and compatibility is already excellent.

While window is maximized, Vivaldi do nothing when double-click right side of + button on tab.
Old Opera creates a new tab by this action.
I do not like this old Opera's behavior. I think that Vivaldi should unmaximize self window.

ad 2: also, navigation keys work only after page has completely loaded. This breaks my workflow: have a newsticker on tab 1, gesture-down to open one article on tab 2 while loading slowly in the background press "1" to go back to Tab 1 (x), gesture down on Article 2, while article 2 loads slowly press "1" to go back to Tab 2 with the - now finished loading - article 1 (x). Both places marked with (x) do not work currently because the keystrokes are belayed until the pages are completely loaded.
Does work in Opera 12 and (if I remember correctly) did also work in previous snapshots of Vivaldi (not entirely sure though).

Just wanted to say that I love this update. Almost working very well under Windows. Linux will work hopefully soon, when mouse gestures work instead of the context menu.

Just observed: you have to double-click right of the trashcan to unmaximize. Maybe that helps a bit.

I wish Vivaldi would create a new tab, though. I love that function on O12, as it allows me open a new tab without having to worry about clicking on the icon, rather having an entire row for that.

Best course of option here would be to allow customization on that part.

If I understand correctly the nature of a Tech Preview version, it is intended to eventually contain first-whack cuts at all the promised features of the browser. That and getting existing things to work largely bug-free are the most likely #1 priority for the developers at this stage of the game. Where (or if) things like bars eventually can be moved, pixel spacing options, which shortcuts do what, and all the other similar tasks are probably going to be mostly left as work for the versions which follow after the eventual "full" TP version. This is very early in the grand scheme of things: an early TP version in a parade of TP versions, to be ultimately followed by a fully-populated TP version, to then perhaps be followed by an alpha version, a beta version, and finally the first stable release. A LOT of water has yet to flow under the bridge before we reach that point…

Your stand alone version has simply had its "Profile" folder superceded by one entitled "User Data" as part of the latest update. Your bookmarks, notes, etc are all still there in the old Profile folder - you simply need to rename it to User Data after first deleting the update-created User Data folder (with Vivaldi turned off, of course). Do that and all your prior data should reappear when you restart Vivaldi.

I don't think it's the threshold honestly. The UI seems to fundamentally have a problem. Try opening tabs or switching between tabs compared to new Opera. The smoothness is just not there 😕
