Vivaldi Opens Data Tab on Launch

  • I'm running the latest Vivaldi snapshot with a Desktop shortcut that uses this parameter:

    --user-data-dir=C:\Users\CMCA.DESKTOP-ACK4Q8O\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\CMCA

It works fine except Vivaldi always opens this additional tab on launch:

    0_1484429666170_Capture.png

  • the path must be enclosed within double quotes if it contains spaces.
With that you're giving Vivaldi instructions to use parameter 1:
    --user-data-dir=C:\Users\CMCA.DESKTOP-ACK4Q8O\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User
    and a parameter 2:
    Data\CMCA

  • Thanks! That did the trick! I did have to redo the data in the "Default" folder though. It seems odd that it originally "saw" the data in that folder without the double quotes.

  • You have always to set parameters in quotationmarks if it contains a space.

You told Vivaldi to create a "Default" folder in C:\Users\CMCA.DESKTOP-ACK4Q8O\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User and open the URL Data\CMCA
The space ended the path defined by the --user-data-dir option.

    vivaldi [OPTION] [URL]

The command created a new profile in C:\Users\CMCA.DESKTOP-ACK4Q8O\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User\Default

If you used quotes as @Gwen-Dragon said you would have created the folder
    "C:\Users\CMCA.DESKTOP-ACK4Q8O\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\CMCA\Default"
