disable dGPU usage
Vivaldi activates the dGPU on my macbook pro. I really don't need the Nvidia power hog for web browsing. Is there a way to tell vivaldi to save power by not telling OSX it needs the NVIDIA GPU?
Vivaldi has a special commandline switch
--disable-gputo disable GPU usage.
Great! Can this be added in preferences?
probably the same can be obtained by unchecking "Use Hardware Acceleration when available"
@iAN-CooG The "--disable-gpu" option is more heavy-handed in that it ensures that the GPU hardware cannot be enabled, but unchecking "Use Hardware Acceleration when available" will achieve the desired result. If you uncheck that option, restart Vivaldi, and go into "Tools / Task Manager", you'll see that Vivaldi won't fire up any "GPU Process" helpers.
