Suggestion List for Vivaldi

You can rename items on the speed dial from the speed dial by just clicking on the name of any given item.

This is true. You can also designate at will WHICH folders will be named a speed dial folders. That's why I asked the user in what way he/she was unable to name folders. it's an effortless and straightforward proposition so one wonders just exactly what the user is trying to do when "it's not possible to rename Speed Dial folders."

You are right, I was fooled by the lack of contextual menu, and I guess the OP too.
A bit of not so obvious things makes Vivaldi as the right successor of Opera.

When I hover over a link I would really like to see the URL to which it points. (I know you can see on Status Bar, but I don't use it, so it's hidden).

In Opera 12, I was able to put the URL on hover next to the addressbar at the top (basically in place of the search box. I really like it that way. I think it makes sense to have everything in one place (in my case, at the top).
Hopefully when an easily customizable UI is implemented we'll have a similar option.

I thought I recalled seeing a Chrome extension to do this and quick search came up with Link Revealer.
I don't know if it would meet your needs (and I can't vouch for it as I haven't used it), but it might be worth a look.
Not all Chrome extensions work properly in Vivaldi, particularly those that need a button on the Tool Bar, but many can be installed and adequately managed from the vivaldi://chrome/extensions page. (copy and paste into address bar, and then bookmark the page if you want)

Thank you gdveggie, will try it

One of the things I really miss from the old Opera is how easy it used to be to add custom java. You could create a folder for your custom java and simply tell the browser where to look for those files. It's a feature I really need with my daily browsing, and I would really appreciate it if it could be incorporated here in such a simple, user-friendly way. I still have a really old version of Opera that I use daily because I cannot find a browser that can do that one simple thing in such an easily managed way.
Also, not sure if this could even really be an option, but it would be nice if there was a built in clock that displayed the seconds somewhere near the address bar. A simple checkbox in the Options menu somewhere could enable and disable it, with a second checkbox under that enabling the display of seconds. This sort of thing is usually left to an addon to do, and since I always end up getting the addon for it on every browser I use because I have to time things down to the second quite frequently during my daily browsing, I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Thank you for reading, and for taking on this project. Heaven knows it's needed.

Two more "old eyes" (well, OK, four more!) here
Anything that helps disable moving objects on individual Web pages, and save preferences, would be great. I mean animated .gifs, Flash, HTML5 effects, all those things. Any effect that moves rapidly or blinks will give me a headache in about 30 seconds. The really wild ones make me want to hurl!
Other than that… I know the developers have said that a lot of the interface customization will show up in later release candidates, and I'm cool with that. I downloaded 1.0.118.19 last week, and I'm thrilled to have the "real Opera" back. I think that in time, Vivaldi will be even better than the old Opera. Already, this preview release has spectacular page rendering. Thank you!

Basically, I want Opera 12.x with stability and functionality, and added fail safes and functionality…
+1
12.17 is still doing everything except YT and TPB for me.
As the west have gone totally insane developing software only for profit, China are taking huge market shares by developing outstanding software. 360 total is a good representative, revolutionizing software it is. Soon it's bye bye ccleaner. I found this program after trying out multiple anti-viruses all bundled with malware, avast, avira, BD etc. 360 shined and have added useful functionality at a intelligent level I have yet to see in any other software. This product actually deliver, It's cute when the only bugs you find are poor English in the menus
Tried UC browser yesterday and was very pleased, another Chinese product.
I understand Vivaldi is a WIP, and I don't expect anything. Am happy for anything, but I have to be honest. Vivaldi currently feels like a freight-train with severe lack of functionality.
Keep it up, know we want a ferrari. Not a monster truck.

Your first post, so welcome!
You can control part of this now via vivaldi://chrome/settings/content > Plug-ins > Click to play
(copy and paste vivaldi://chrome/settings/content into address bar, then bookmark if you want, for future convenience – works similar to Olde Opera's "Enable plug-ins only on demand")
If a lot of the moving objects are in advertisements, consider adding AdBlock or uBlock to block most ads.

If you like TP2 (1.0.118.19), I would strongly recommend updating to the most recent Developer snapshot.
Vivaldi is developing rapidly and there have been numerous bug fixes and feature improvements since Technical Preview 2 (v.1.0.118.19). Developer snapshots since then have generally been as stable, if not more stable, than TP2.
Follow the Team Blog for weekly updates (usually on Mondays) and occasional mid-week updates.

Ah, yes. Thanks! That's a great start!
I'll look into the snapshots. One of the things I remember about "classic Opera" was that the technical previews were more stable than most of the "full release" software I needed to use. I hope Vivaldi continues in that noble tradition.

Exactly

Until now we said missing features and minor glitches, no major problems at all.

I basically want Vivaldi to be Opera Reborn and have every feature that Opera 12.17 had
- oh, and maybe a "speed dial" button (one of the few things that Opera 27 did right) next to the home button.
I was attracted to the default features of Opera since it's infancy. It was amazing to have so many things that did not require a plugin. It did not matter to me that some websites did not support it, and I do not want to go into politics.
Magic Wand was something very very nice to have; the email client and chat client were a few of the features I constantly used. I'm hopping to Vivaldi will bring many if not all of those features back.

Would also like to add my name to the list of those who would like to be able to save the open tabs from my last session on closing instead of having to open to the homepage each time.

Vivaldi does it since the very firs public release, check your startup options.
