Distros with difficult or lacking Vivaldi install.

Hi y'all,

We are working with some of the Linux distros making sure they include Vivaldi as prominently and easy to install as possible. We have our own repos for deb and rpm based distros, but maybe there are distros using these package formats that doesn't work well with Vivaldi? On Arch we are kept updated in AUR which seems to work well. But we would like to know if there are distros that should have Vivaldi but doesn't, or where it is difficult to get Vivaldi to install and run. And please do not say "BSD". We know!

Sorry for changing post. I was at Vivaldi download page but, after clicking on "download for Linux" it swap on the "download-starting-soon" page nothing happens, This is why I thought that there was not yet a version for Mint. I find it clicking on [download] button upper right side of the page. It's ok to download the DEB package version?

I try now and i confirm that it's works as well, downloading the DEB package from here: https://vivaldi.com/download/

@Marko-Indaco vivaldi constructs the install according to package manager.

mint, ubuntu, debian, others are based on debian package manager. package manager will add repo once installed.

Redhat Package Manager (rpm) works on fedora, korora, suse, probably others. check which package manager your distro uses.

Hi, on Opensuse Leap 42.2 repository is not added after rpm install.
I had to add repository manually.
Leap 42.1 was working fine.
I use http://repo.vivaldi.com/

I have no problems installing Vivaldi on Manjaro. It is only available in AUR but using pamac to select the package from AUR it downloads and builds it without issues on my machine.

Correct. But Vivaldi repo is added after you download and install the deb file (from https://vivaldi.com ) Note: Both stable and snapshot are then available from repo. So you could have both installed

@Marko-Indaco - Yes. Every time your system is updated now, it will update Vivaldi as well.

@Marko-Indaco you can add other repositories to your linux distro as well. like chrome, rpm fusion, and whoever else decides to host a repository online. windows and android have repositories, but they often function differently.

So even after installing Vivaldi you didn't get the repo added? Just need to make sure!

We are working on getting Vivaldi into as many distros as possible. Mint is a very important one. It will always help if you guys ask those dealing with such things within your distro community to add us. It works better than if we are the only ones who asking for it. Currently Vivaldi is very easily available on Arch and Antegros (the latter a phenomenal distro I may say)
