- can't update
what permissions? it's an internal update and not an .exe file
Very rarely some users had this, but we could not reproduce this issue in older Vivaldi versions.
Try to clean %TEMP% dir.
Check if zombie Vivaldi processes are running after closing.
Which Windows and Vivaldi and type of Vivaldi Installation is yours?
seems it has worked what you suggested!
"1.5.658.44 (Stable channel) (32-bit)"
1.5.658.44 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
@dougunlocked 32-bit is recommended. If you must, you can just install 64-bit over the top.
Hello. Somebody please explain to me, why is there no progress bar during install? It's pretty confusing when user clicks install and everything disappears for few minutes! I was thinking that it is maybe already installed and I just have to run it manually, but then I saw a bunch of vivaldi processes in task manager, so I waited a bit more. My pc is quite fast, so I imagine that on slower computers people will be even more confused and wonder if something is happening or not. So in the next update, please include progress bar.
@McVitas Yes, the installer shows up after some seconds with its progress bar. This is a known issue.
I try to ping the responsible Vivaldi dev for this.
I reported this bug: VB-23492 Progress bar of installer not shown immediately
@Gwen-Dragon I haven't seen any progress bar. It took about a minute to install silently and then browser launched and opened previous windows and tabs and.
@McVitas It happens when you're using the tablet mode on Windows 10 (the progress bar dialog shows up in the background), but I guess that was not the case?
@pafflick I have a desktop mode with 4K TV connected. It may be possible that a progress bar showed somewhere under other windows or somewhere in the corner where I would miss it?...
Also a separate .exe file worked magic instead of using internal updater
@Gwen-Dragon so I confirm this has been fixed and I could see progress bar today during update, BUT I found another really small bug In the dialog "close and install Vivaldi" you cannot press spacebar! You either have to do a mouse click or press enter (I suppose enter works...), but not spacebar. It's behaving weirdly when you press spacebar - button gets pressed and the window refreshes but does not go away.
