Working and not working extensions

I have been unable to run the extension "Grammarly Spell Checker & Grammar Checker" in Vivaldi, (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/grammarly-spell-checker-g/kbfnbcaeplbcioakkpcpgfkobkghlhen)

Nice information about extensions! :cheer: (Directly from Tetzchner)
"Both themes and extensions are high on our list. Some extensions already work, but we aim to make this work a lot better. Cheers,
Jon." -
Thank you gdveggie, ImTranslator extension works well in 64bit Win7 PC (that is my difficult case), I tested it in 32bit Win7 netbook and worked well too.
I don`t recommend you to test anything in 64bit Win7 because 95% of my found bugs were in this OS, keep in 32 bit Win7 and you will be happy.Oh, good, I'm glad ImTranslator works for you. It really seems very nice, especially how unobtrusive it is. I almost don't even notice the little bubble when I highlight something, and it has a very small (3KB) memory footprint, so even though I rarely will need it, I've simply left it installed and enabled since I posted above.
I only mentioned I hadn't tried it yet on 64-bit Vivaldi because you needed something for 64-bit Vivaldi and I didn't have time at that point to check whether it worked there before suggesting it… ...So I'm glad to hear it does.
I do have 64-bit Vivaldi (and 32-bit Vivaldi) installed on a 64-bit Win7 machine, but so far I'm mostly using 32-bit Vivaldi on my 32-bit Win7 machine. I know 64-bit Vivaldi is said to be more buggy, but I haven't really used it enough yet to run into that, as I only use it occasionally to test something.
I just tried installing "Grammarly Spell Checker & Grammar Checker" and it seemed to install OK, but I don't see any way to use it, so I'm guessing it needs a button on the toolbar (which isn't yet supported in Vivaldi). Maybe if you have tried it in Chrome you know whether it needs a button or not. Do you want it more for the spelling, or the grammar, or both?

for my the problem is in win7x64 where there is a lot of my founded bugs, 32 or 64 bit vivaldi is the same: the problem is vivaldi using win7x64
grammarly needs a button and a registration at .com before, but there is an user that are using well on vivaldi!!! he told me that…. I could not use- I installed and deleted re installed but nothing, we are in the same situation.
I tried to use it to test my grammar, but the problem is that this extension check grammar in all pages, even in my native language so I should set every page for not check grammar in future and it turns in a balls pain. -

Ahh, yes. So it would be nice to find one that you could easily activate only on demand.
I'm not sure how it is supposed to work, so I can't really test this. But I notice it has an entry in the Keyboard Shortcuts for Extension and Apps (chrome://chrome/extensions/configureCommands) that is not populated with a key combination. You might try choosing a keyboard combination that isn't already in use for something else in Vivaldi [e.g., Alt+G (for Grammarly)] and see whether that enables you to toggle activation of the extension only when you want it.

What UserAgent use Vivaldi? I can see, that where sites require "Chrome-compatible" browser, there Vivaldi seems to be "compatible", too. (E.g.: WebKincstár) On these sites Opera (even with UserAgent extension as Chrome on Windows) Opera is incompatible, and is denied.
As I can see, Stacounter recognizes correctly as Vivaldi 1.0.
Per the Help menu: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/40.0.2214.114 Safari/537.36 Vivaldi/1.0.111.2
For those who aren't very familiar with User Agent strings (like me :P), I'll point out that in Vivaldi for Windows, the User Agent string will vary slightly depending on the Vivaldi version, the Vivaldi bitness, and the Windows bitness. For example, here are the strings from my 3 Vivaldi setups (the two 64-bit examples being from an earlier Developer snapshot):
32-bit Vivaldi v1.0.162.4 (TP3) on 32-bit Win7:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/41.0.2272.105 Safari/537.36 Vivaldi/1.0.162.432-bit Vivaldi v1.0.142.32 on 64-bit Win7:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/41.0.2272.105 Safari/537.36 Vivaldi/1.0.142.3264-bit Vivaldi v1.0.142.32 on 64-bit Win7:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/41.0.2272.105 Safari/537.36 Vivaldi/1.0.142.32I imagine similar variations occur in Mac and Linux Vivaldi versions.
For User Agent switchers, An_dz already mentioned User-Agent Switcher (by esolutionsnordicab) from Opera Add-ons is working in Vivaldi. In addition, the following 3 User Agent switchers from the Chrome Web Store all appear to install OK in Vivaldi (listed in order of most recent developer update):
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher/ffhkkpnppgnfaobgihpdblnhmmbodake
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher/lkmofgnohbedopheiphabfhfjgkhfcgfThe first one has been confirmed by mrmeireles to get Vivaldi to work at web.whatsapp.com using Mozilla as the User Agent. The second one appears to be by the same author as the Opera Add-on reported to work by An_dz, but written and maintained for the Chrome Web Store.
If anyone else tries any of the 3, it might be helpful to know get feedback about a few more sites where they seem to work, and what User Agent worked on the site (e.g., Google sites or Mega downloads that don't currently play nice with Vivaldi).

Some extensions can't you enable by default at start of Vivaldi. You have to enable all time you start Vivaldi.
The problem can be solved, if you update the "renitent" extensions.

I've installed the FVD Chrome extension. It is a Speed Dial alternative for Chromium based browsers like Vivaldi. It's much more scalable than Vivaldi SD. I could set the FVD as startpage, and it works fine.
But how can I set this page for New Blank Page? It gives always the original Vivaldi Speed Dial.

My list of extensions:
For me lack of custom mouse gestures was the thing limiting from starting daily use of vivaldi.
With bit of tinkering i got "Gestures for Google Chrome" extensions open new tab working properly (speed dial with focus on address bar) with vivaldi. Haven't tested all of the commands, but the essentials for me r now covered.
To make that happend I needed to change
chrome://newtab/
to
chrome-extension://mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli/components/startpage/startpage.html
in TabUtils.js. -
Sensational! Extension UI works! So (in principle) all extensions work! :woohoo:
I'm going to look for deficiencies. First: If I switch to a new button, first time the clicking will make appear the previous popup, not the actual. The second click already works correctly.

Stylish works for me. A bit awkward using it comparably to Fx Stylish+Stylish Editor Mod but works all right. No Preview and Search bar is a pain but, again, works.
Anybody knows of a working Restart ext.? At this point a File/Restart menuitem would do but i'll take any means for restarting. Restart my Chrome can't be used since there's no way to use it …. (no button, no menu).
TIA! -

TIA!That works perfectly.
Likely you are using an old vivaldi version w/o the extension button support.

I am seeking a translator that would explain the whole website. I used to use Translate from Opera, but from version 1.0.249.12 does not work, just as ImTranslator.
-
Ublock (https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/ublock/?display=en) and Umatrix (https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/umatrix/?display=en) also work fine.
uBlock has been working for me since I started using Vivaldi with TP4, but with the latest build (1.0.258.3, 32-bit on 64-bit Win10), I tried installing uMatrix and it locks up after using it on a second tab/webpage.
EDIT: uBlock is having a similar issue, though still technically works. Before this past update (or two?), it worked fine.

"IP Address and Domain Information" seems to not work. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ip-address-and-domain-inf/lhgkegeccnckoiliokondpaaalbhafoa?utm_source=chrome-app-launcher-info-dialog

Zenmate has a strange window behaviour when i push the button next to the address bar.
As you can see in the image, the window is incomplete and I cannot turn off the extension.
Attachments:
-
It's a very annoying behaviour. If I move the Vivaldi folder to other place, it loses the extensions. The same situation is, if I install Vivaldi on the drive partition, then I rebuild windows on C: drive partition. (I've installed Vivaldi as Standalone) :woohoo:
Opera hasn't this behaviour. I can move Opera folder around the PC without loosing of any extension.

Hi,
regarding µMatrix, I still cannot change the scope anymore after I have initially set it within a given Vivaldi session.
I do see the request number on the extension icon changing when switching tabs, but to select the scope of the other tab in µMatrix I just switched to I have to restart Vivaldi.Gain, I've just created a new profile (something I really, really need to avoid in the future because it's way too tedious to reinstall all extensions, restore all cookie and JS-whitlists etc.) to exclude a broken profile - no help. :S
Latest Vivaldi version affected over here: 1.0.270.16 (32-bit)
Can anyone confirm?
