Usage privacy transparency
It is not particularly clear what kind of information the Vivaldi browser collects or how it is used. Currently a user must go to:
- Follow link to vivaldi://terms
- Follow linking further to https://vivaldi.com/privacy/
Once you finally reach https://vivaldi.com/privacy/ it becomes misleading whether you are subject to the myriad of analytics software just by using the Vivaldi browser or if it only applies when visiting vivaldi.com
There are a handful of forks of firefox and chromium built to address people's concerns regarding telemetry aggregation and user usage profiling. It would be nice to further simplify and emphasize Vivaldi's stance on these issues in high visibility locations.
@Gestalt thanks for raising this question.
@gaelle it could be useful to describe more precisely the Google Safe Browsing API used internally in Vivaldi (Lookup or Update) because it have different privacy "risks" See https://developers.google.com/safe-browsing/v4/
Perhaps it could all be assembled on one page with a clear heading structure on what applies when/where, it is indeed a bit vague and scattered right now..
