Adblock for youtube?

Is there a working adblock for youtube ads?
-
uBlock Origin, effective with thousands of ads, no more on Youtube aswell.

Maybe i was just fortunate, but until only 2 months ago i was not affected by Youtube in-video ads... they simply never ever occurred for me. Alternatively maybe my long-standing Privacy Badger & uMatrix settings were blocking them. Either way, since they recently began appearing at an astonishing 5' interval [ugh], destroying the "movie experience", i decided to experiment. These uMatrix filter settings have so far succeeded in completely vanquishing the ads again:
The only downside apparent to me so far is that now all Comments are also blocked. If desperate to be able to see them, the Cookies filter has to be changed back to green from red... but that then lets the damn ads come back too. Hence i keep the cookies blocked, & selectively, temporarily, re-allow them on a video by video basis [say for something important, like a Linux vid ].

@steffie Painful!
Did you try with uBlock Origin? It works like a charm (never had any ad since the beginning).
I know it doesn't specifically answer your question but it might be a good workaround to use. -
@ornorm I was a dedicated uBlock Origin user for many years, but changed over to uMatrix several months [or longer?] ago, for its superior granularity. The hassle with it [i assume many potential users would opine] is that on some new [to me] websites it can take quite a bit of experimental fiddling before finding the sweet spot, but otoh, uM impressed me immediately i changed to it by actually being more site-compatibly easier to finesse than uO. Mind you, i'm obviously bonkers, so i recognise uM will not be everyone's cup of bonox. One thing many of us would likely agree though; the Dev for both of them is a very clever capable coder.

@steffie To be honest, I assumed you did choose not to use uBlock for one reason or another but, not being 100% sure, I thought I could try to give a shot...
