How to integrate Developer Tools to the browser instead of separate window?

  • Hello guys, As the title said, is it impossible to get the "Developer Tools / Inspector" integrated into the browser window instead of seperate one? Like Google Chrome right now? Everything from Vivaldi is good but this one. It is too fcking hard for me to debug with Vivaldi, my hand is going to explode because I have to press CMD + ~ billion of times God blessing me.

  • No idea when this will be implemented. In the meantime you can install Vivaldi Hooks. It's a set of modification which includes one for docked devtools, works pretty well. It's modular, so you can use as many or as little modifications as you please.

  • vovaldi hooks sounds interesting, however the link is broken.. Here I found the GitHub Page: https://github.com/justdanpo/VivaldiHooks

  • @cukabeka
I was linking to the thread, not his github page, since the thread contains all these resources already. But yeah, fixed link -- seems like the new forum has broken it... was working yesterday.

  • Has anyone got this working on Mac? I tried with the latest snapshot and it just failed. First location I put it didn't do anything, second one killed the browser and I had to re-download. Either I don't know where to put the files, or maybe they don't work on Mac?

    First location I tried: /Applications/Vivaldi.app/Contents/Resources
    Second location I tried: /Applications/Vivaldi.app/Contents/Versions/1.5.633.3/Vivaldi Framework.framework/Resources

    /Applications/Vivaldi.app/Contents/Versions/1.4.589.38/Vivaldi Framework.framework/Resources/vivaldi

Is where I have it for mine it loads fine here perhaps it does not work with newer version.

    MacUser2525:~$ ls -l /Applications/Vivaldi.app/Contents/Versions/1.4.589.38/Vivaldi\ Framework.framework/Resources/vivaldi

When you get to saving the vendor-bundle.js save it to a directory you have access to then copy it into the directory here manually as the OSX save dialog will not let you get into the Application bundle.

  • @TwisterMc
If you encounter any more problems you should post in the Vivaldi Hooks thread. The developer won't check in this one, and it might be interesting for him to know when and why people run into issues.

And yeah, no problems on osx, you just have to use the right folder and it works.

  • I am using Vivaldi for daily debugging of my Cordova Apps on Android, substituting Chrome, for many reasons, including idealism.
I am not bothered by a separate tools window, this is the way I usuallt work. Docked windows are too crammed.
I am more disturbed by Cmd-W not closing the tools window. This happens every time I deploy a new app, many times a day.
