Vivaldi can't find Canonical's Flash plugin
I'm using Vivaldi latest stable (1.4.589.38) on Ubuntu 14.04 64bit. Recently, I uninstalled Google Chrome and reinstalled Flash plugin through the adobe-flashplugin (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/adobe-flashplugin) package maintained by Canonical. After that, Vivaldi can't find the plugin and Flash is disabled. I confirmed /usr/bin/vivaldi doesn't contain the path of the plugin installed by the adobe-flashplugin package. I think it should be included because the package is the most up-to-date and recommended. The path (on my enviroment) is as follows: /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libpepflashplayer.so Related: Flash stopped working in stable version 1.4.589.38 https://vivaldi.net/forum/vivaldi-browser-for-linux/15700-flash-stopped-working-in-stable-version-1-4-589-38
There's already an opened thread for that, please refer to it.
Install the Official Adobe Flash package:
sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu `lsb_release -sc` partner" sudo apt update sudo apt install adobe-flashplugin
If you have Vivaldi older than 1.4.589.41, create a symlink so that it is found:
sudo mkdir -p /usr/lib/PepperFlash sudo ln -fs /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libpepflashplayer.so /usr/lib/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so
