Vivaldi is changing my home page after it loads (Linux Mint 18)
-
This is the url for my start/home page: https://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=pws:IONTORON139 After a couple of seconds, it changes to this: https://www.wunderground.com/ It just drops my location details; none of the other browsers do this, and I have used them all to test and compare Does anybody know why this happens? I'm using Vivaldi now because the latest Opera update has totally messed up all my bank logins and Vivaldi was looking really good, but this is a deal-breaker and if we can't find a solution I'll be going back to (ugh!) Chrome or Firefox

If you want help, it wouldn't hurt to lose your rather unpleasantly aggressive tone. Also, for best help, you should do a better job of providing accurate unambiguous info. What are your V specifics; SS, Stable? Version#? 32/64bit? What extensions do you have installed? What are your Mint 18 specifics (i just can't believe the number of people that keep blandly saying "Mint 18" as if that's definitive] - LMDE, Xfce, Mate, Cinnamon, KDE? For troubleshooting purposes specific details can be critical to correctly identifying root cause & thus leading to a solution.
FWIW, i copied your desired url into my V SS 1.5.626.8 (Developer Build) dev (64-bit) Setting's Homepage field, then opened it via Home button. So far after ~20' it has remained correct. I have VB VMs for Mint 18 Xfce, Mate, Cinnamon & KDE on my Tower, & my Lappy is Mint 18 Xfce+Compiz, so if you identify your flavour i'm happy to repeat my test in my relevant VM for you.
…..........................................................................................................................................................................
Tower's SSD OS = Linux Mint x64 17.3 KDE 4.14.2. [< 26/9/16]; Maui Linux Aurora Plasma 5.8.0.
Lappy's SSD OS = Linux Mint x64 17.3 KDE 4.14.2. [< 18/9/16]; Linux Mint x64 18 Xfce+Compiz [> 18/9/16] -
Very likely you got some crapware aimed to Chrome, using chrome itself or maybe even using vivaldi.
Better if you clean your browsers profiles, and next time install a good adblocker like uBlock origin

You got it Algie. Don't know what Steffie's on about, but she sounds like she belongs on the Ubuntu forums with all the other Leet Haxors - the major reason most people give up on Linux.
I'll figure it out myself, and won't be back - I've had enough of that attitude. -
Hi Algie
Ta for your response, but i must disagree with your opening "Bit harsh there Steffie!". In fact i reckon you could have instead written "totally over the top unworthy & unjustifiably mean post Steffie!!!" & then it would be closer to the mark, & i'd strongly concur. I can't quite believe now my bad temper yesterday, but there it is in writing. What a fool i was. Apart from my self-disgust now at that original reply, i'm additionally chastened at any possibility of me actually contributing to repel people from here; it's diametrically opposed to my desire & values, & hence another legitimate nail in my coffin. Sorry doesn't seem enough.
As to your remark about uBlock, though you doubtless already know i'll mention it just in case… many users prefer uBlock Origin over uBlock, so if you haven't already, it could be good for you to give it a go.

On the off-chance that you might actually poke your nose in here again despite your statement of intent otherwise, i'll offer this… my unreserved apology. My points were well-meant, but abysmally delivered in an unjustifiably harsh & rude manner [or lack thereof]. I am very sorry to have conducted myself that way, & to have hurt & offended you.
"she belongs on the Ubuntu forums" –> indeed yes, a very well-targeted reproach to me, & i can only blushingly agree with you. What the hell was i thinking? Once again, i'm truly sorry.
With (i hope] all my earlier venom removed, my fangs retracted, & my claws filed back, i still respectfully suggest that more info from you might help people in the forum to help you. Some Vivaldi issues might be pretty generic & platform-independent, but sometimes conversely the problems can be very localised & specific. There's no saying that the additional info from you would definitely lead to a solution or workaround from the forum, but there's a non-zero probability that it might. Already we do know that this particular issue seems not generic, else it should have also manifested in my V installation in my primary OS, but it didn't. BTW, my offer to test in my specific Mint VM, if you advise which one, was genuine & still stands.
I do hope that you get to see this.
