@Crimsonshade Muchas gracias again -- you saved me lots of time! Posting this now from the new Snapshot, phew. So now that's two of my fav hooks disabled coz of breaking Snapshot launches, rats.
Agreed, loading.js was one I used and found very useful.
-
Disappointing. New versions of these were posted 4 hrs ago, but with the newjdhooks.js
now Snapshot does not even load any hooks at all.https://github.com/justdanpo/VivaldiHooks/tree/master/vivaldi

@Steffie damn, thanks for the heads up, I was about to check if there were updates too. I'll wait then.
It's weird tho, it explicitly says "3.5snapshot fixes" at end of description of the last commit.
-
@iAN-CooG No, ignore my last post, i need to edit it but am still only part way thru my tests. I CAN tell you however that i was WRONG -- something went badly wrong with the initial copy of that file i downloaded -- the next download works correctly.
Am just about now to replace those other files -- will update again here soon.
-
It works for me after the latest update. Which seems to have fixed the qc-close-tabs issue for me
The only hooks I run is:
disable-VB-25302.js
jdhooks-startup-settings.js
qc-close-tab.js
speeddial-shortcuts.js
speeddial-spacing.js
zoom-control-wheel.jsIf you're running every hook you can obviously expect to spend a lot more time debugging when stuff breaks
-
Phew - sorry for my recent erroneous post. Now all these seem fine, with the latest versions:
-
@Steffie ok then I'll update it now. I can blame you if anything fails (MUHAHAHAH!!!1)
-
Since the update to Vivaldi 3.5.2115.73 (Stable channel) the bookmark button in the address line no longer works.
Update from December 14, 2020:
Download and install the latest Vivaldi Hooks from GitHub and the bookmark button in the address bar works again
-
With the new two-layer tab stacking introduced in Vivaldi 3.5.2130.3, Multiline tabs is semi-broken. The tabs DO stretch to multiple lines, but the tab bar isn't expanded to fit them any more, so the tabs now cover the GUI.
-
I deleted loading.js responsible for the crash of my last vivaldi snapshot >> 3.5.2131.8 (Version officielle) (64 bits)
-
@hipeline Ditto, but it took me quite a while to track the problem down to this specific hook. Once i'd pinpointed that this was the problem, i took the opportunity to explore the inbuilt alternatives, & now happily use
-
@hipeline @guigirl Are you guys reporting these things to the author on Github?
He's following the Github and might have a chance to fix bugs if you figure out the offending hook and report it.

@Pathduck I upvoted you last night, but was entirely too lazy to actually do the reporting then. Today i created an account to do it, but alas it's another race i lost, heehee.

New version release that repairs or updates some old/obsolete codes

Merci @justdanpo

My discovered status with this new VivaldiHooks update, fwiw.
- Snapshot 3.5.2137.3 = No idea, coz this one is NFG in Linux.
- Snapshot 3.5.2131.8 = Good:
Spoiler
- Stable 3.5.2115.81 = launch freezes at the infamous empty window, unless
bookmarks-button.js
is renamed to disable. Obviously by deduction, once Stable next updates to current Snapshot version, this hook should also then be compatible.
Oh. Per my picture, i do not use the Bookmarks Button hook, but as experiment i enabled it in Snapshot then relaunched. No crash, fully launches ok... but that hook is broken - nothing happens when icon is clicked. This was one of the few hooks [along withjdhooks.js
] that the Dev had specifically changed with this update, so it seems more work is needed on this one.
-
@hipeline Thanks for hint to new version.
I just thought .@justdanpo was not active anymore on development of this mod.

Ah, ok. I will check this before i use it on other people's PCs.
Thanks for testing!
-
@Gwen-Dragon Make sure you disable that one specific hook i named, & thereafter Stable still runs fine with this new Hooks update... just not that one hook.
-
where do you see this list - from another screen grab its in settings but i cannot find it
its a long time since i installed hooks and not sure if on this install i ran the install script or just added it manually
-
@adacom After each update of Vivaldi, vivaldihooks is overwritten, so it is imperative to reinstall it.
VH can be found on the link I mentioned above. Unzip and run the installhooks.bat from the folder.
Restart vivaldi and you can find this list in the General tab of the Vivaldi settings
