Win10.10586 KB3150513 prevent to install extensions

  • I can't install extension anymore, in any Vivaldi version, they always hangs at "checking". It started to happen some days ago. Windows10 10586. I've tried several things - expect for main profile, all are untouched standalone installs: - Vivaldi 1.5 latest (main dev profile) and with new user data profile (I mean custom DIR in link to use a new \User Data) - Vivaldi 1.4 x64 and with new user data profile - Vivaldi 1.4 x32 and with new user data profile - Disabling the firewall (I use tinywall) - Disabling support for develop mode in extension page - Logout from my google account (some time ago it worked as workaround) - Followed the sticky post for main profile What else can I try? :P

  • It's unclear what you mean by "except for main profile, all are FRESH installs". Either an install is FRESH with no auto-reused user profile or it is new but reuses at least parts of the user profile (files and/or folders) that were either auto-imported or manually moved there. For this kind of problem troubleshooting, usually the best approach is to do a true FRESH install that reuses nothing from a previous install, then try installing extensions into that (and without logging into google account, etc), just to see if the extensions will be accepted. Sometimes, even starting with a FRESH standalone install to a new-named folder is a better starting point since it avoids entanglement with anything bizarre that's possibly been etched in your registry. If even a true FRESH standalone install won't accept extensions, it points at your system itself: AV or other security program, account/file permissions, firewall, proxy/VPN, ISP blocking, etc.

  • You use a Windows Insider Preview and that version may cause problems.

Vivaldi is tested only on Final OS versions. So developers and testers may not see all bugs you are seeing.

Well, yes, it was a bit vague. I mean new standalone profiles, with untouched files, no import at all.

As AV I've panda (never had problems), the firewall doesn't block traffic, no proxy, the permissions should be fine, I don't use a VPN and the ISP don't block traffic. Disks should be fine.
I'll check also for malwares; any other things that I can check are welcome :)

So, maybe are the last KBs that killed my Vivaldi.
The funny thing is I went out to from insider after few updates (so the last final is still 10240?)
Ok, I'll try to uninstall latest update(s) or rollback to stable (probably I'll do this).

    EDIT
Yep, uninstalled the KB3150513 (15/09/16). Now extension works again.
So I still was in slow ring without knowing it XD
