Tabs not loading since latest Vivaldi update
Hi, Last week, I installed the latest Vivaldi update 1.4.589.11 (Stable channel) (64-bit) for Mac OS X El Capitan v. 10.11.6 Since the installation, I have issues with pages not loading and it happens on random occasions but 80% of the time. Basically, opening almost any link/page/bookmark in new tab shows blank background color but doesn't show any content on the page. If I hover over the "blank page", my cursor changes into a pointer if there are any links or text boxes on the actual page, so the content -is there- but I just don't see it because it's covered with the background color. Same issue sometimes happens if I visit another URL from a "working" tab (hence random occasions). Same issue happens with my pinned tabs - some of them will load correctly when I reopen Vivaldi, some will just be a blank screen. Refreshing the page, reopening Vivaldi, clearing cache, using Private Window - none of these helped. The only thing that works is if I manually open a new tab and paste a URL in the address bar. I'm attaching an example of one such tab opening and also the error I see in the console. I'm not really tech savvy when it comes to these things, but if there's any more information I can give you, please let me know. I've been having the exact same problem.
Is this the same problem as reported in Windows forum ?
Thank you - I checked the screencast on that thread, it doesn't look like the same issue. For me, the page does "load", there is just no visible content.

I can confirm here, its happening since late 1.3 snapshots. MacOS ElCapitan.
100% of times when any tab loads on background, either clicking on links, or using cmd + e for a new search.
Same here. Also with the newest snapshot: 1.5.609.8 running on macOS 101.12
I am having the same issue with version 1.4.589.11 on Windows. You can right click on the link and then elect to open in a new tab– that seems to work fine. It is a workaround for now. I am hoping for a fix soon; this is kind of a major bug.
Vivaldi 1.4.589.38 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
MBP Early 2011 13"
Click on link: tab opens and loads to 100% but no content visible.
Opt to open link in background: same issue.
Restart Vivaldi: pages load and show content.
thanks for the better workaround, guys. Copying the link and pasting into address bar opens the page.
About a week ago, the bug that is described here (page loads, nothing is visible, but moving mouse cursor across page reveals that the links are there, just invisible) was introduced to the internal macOS builds, and there, it is happening consistently for many different ways of opening/creating tabs.
I don't think I have ever experienced this issue with builds older than the one from last week, though, which is why I find it confusing that you guys are experiencing the issue with 1.4.589.11 stable. When I tried to reproduce the issue using the standalone 1.4.589.11 stable build I have on my machine, I was not able to.
Anyway, I hope the issue is fixed soon, as it is very annoying. In the meantime, a quick way to make an invisible page usable again is to use ⌘⌥T to clone it. I also noticed that right-clicking a link and choosing "Open in new Tab" does not create tabs with invisible pages (whereas midle-clicking or ⌘Clicking does).
