Adblocker allowing things AdGuard and uBlock Origin stops, tried adding lists
-
Hi do people submit issues when Vivaldi for Android's built in ad blocker if it allows things regardless of the rules and lists being used? (Compared to similar blockers with the same rules/lists.)
Is that something developers want to know about and fix?
Is Vivaldi's built in ad and tracker blocker based on or forked from a well known version (ABP, uBO etc)?
(I don't have a PC available at the moment does Vivaldi for Windows, Linux, Mac, iOS use the same content blocker as Android?)

I don't mean to sound condescending, I genuinely do not know if Vivaldi accepts bugs, requests for it's content blocker.
I'm a big Vivaldi fan.

@andrenz
Hi, this is not condescending.
You can report bugs to the Vivaldi bug tracker, open the help pages and search for bug.
The ad blocker is a work in progress and a missing feature is not a bug.
For example, I have no idea if the Vivaldi ad blocker supports uBlock lists. -
@mib2berlin The main list uBO (uBlock Origin) and Vivaldi use is the Easylist list so I assume Vivaldi tries to support the same rules.

@andrenz
I tested lists from
https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/blob/master/filters/
I can't add filters.txt on Vivaldi 7.4 but on the snapshot of 7.5, so uBo lists are partly supported but they work on uBo lists continuously. -
@mib2berlin Yeah I realize they accept the lists and support them to an extent my point is it doesn't support them completely. Even with the same lists Vivaldi displays some ads.
-
@mib2berlin This is the list ABP, uBO and Vivaldi use to block most ads. This is the one that has YouTube, TVNZ, ThreeNow rules, Vivaldi still shows ads on those sites.

Edit: ThreeNow isn't in there.

@andrenz
Hi, not all of this list is working:The EasyList from Vivaldi is different I guess.
https://downloads.vivaldi.com/easylist/easylist-current.txtI use only the tracking blocker of Vivaldi and Adblock for Youtube
at moment on my YT trash account and Premium Lite on my "normal" account, I don't care much of Ad's on YT.
Google starts a new campaign against ad blocking last week so many uBo and ABP users report they get ad's.
This will not getting better for all ad blockers.https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/adblock-for-youtube/cmedhionkhpnakcndndgjdbohmhepckk

Ok thanks for that, it's good to know you can easily see it doesn't support every rule.
I'll just check back in a couple months on how well it's blocking ads on those three sites.
I hope developers know how important the ad blocker is on the Android version (as you can't use extensions) , if they could support all the rules in the official EasyList list it would be awesome and an easy thing to monitor.
