Vivaldi wants access to keyring on each launch, since update to 1.4.589

Vivaldi (stable) 1.4.589.11 on linux 4.7 Edit: Have made a significant edit of my original post, having found out more pertinent info re. source of problem and available fix. ================================== Been running Vivaldi for many months now and upgrading each stable version as they become available. I have not had any major problems. However, on the switch from 1.3.551.38 to 1.4.589.11, I am running into the "keychain" or "keyring" access issue, which seems to be discussed in this older chromium bug report but even better described (incl. screenshot) in this recent chromium bug report. I have removed my previous comments/questions since 1) this seems to be a Chromium code base problem and 2) a fix seems to be coming, quoting the bug report:
The good news is that the fix is already there and coming with the next version.
but unfortunately
Apologies that you'll have to put up with this for 2 months.
Can developers offer a patched version sooner (using the patched Chromium) since users only have binaries available and cannot patch or compile Vivaldi?

Since the last Kubuntu update (Sept I’ve been getting a dialog asking for a password when I start Vivaldi. This only happens with Vivaldi, not Firefox or Chrome.
Vivaldi's Interface zoom in Settings stays, but the page zoom is reset to 100% each time.
Websites DuckDuckGo.com and hex.frvr.com were both reset. I believe Vivaldi is either losing or failing to load cookies.
I've tried reinstalling with the latest stable and developer versions with the same problem.Vivaldi version info:

I have the same issue on snapshot 1.4.589.4 on Ubuntu. Cookies are lost on each startup.
Solutions for chrome appear to be starting with the flag –password-store=basic or setting the keyring password to blank.

setting the keyring password to blank
Tldr : don't do that.
As thé password is used to encrypt keyring data, setting no password is very dangerous because all keyring data Will bé written un clear text. Si if à malware get this file, it has all tout password.
-
But I don't understand why cookies ar lost. Normally the keyring only store password, not cookies, I'm right ?

I have exactly the same problem, I have to login again every time.
Starting with the flag –password-store=basic doesn't work for me, I have to remove the keyring password.
I hope it's fixed soon.
I'm using Linux Mint 17.3 64-bit.
-
Hope it will be fixed soon, because re enter password after each reboot is really boring.
-
My system is affected too (Fedora 24 KDE) running as a VMWare Workstation 12 guest on Windows 10.
-
To those who have this problem, are you in autologin to access to your session ?
-
Nope, no autologin.
-
This is fixed in chromium 53.0.2785 i.e. snapshot 1.5.609.8.
However, vivaldi needs to be started with the flag –password-store=basic
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=643189#c29

Not fixed for me, it's worst than before, because now the keyring is poped twice, one at vivaldi launch and the other when there is a form on the page.
And for the cookies, it's totally random. Sometimes all sites are saved, even after reboot, and sometimes not.
-
This seems to be fixed for me now.
Vivaldi 1.4.589.38 (Stable channel) (64-bit) on Linux, no longer requests access to the keyring. -
The problem still continue for me, on Two computer. It is solved for you ?
-
Maybe because i'm on a testing Debian build.
Do you have information of this bug from Debian side ?I've tried with chromium and i've the same cookies forget trouble. It's really annoying. But I don't know where to search, the only response in the internet is to clear the keyring password. Which is quite dangerous.
-
Hey there,
the same problem with the keyring and the cookies on manjaro linux 16.08 Deepin with autologin.I cannot remove the gnome-keyring.
-
After some web digging normally it's solved in the 53.0.2785.143 and the version reported in the current Vivaldi snapshot is 53.0.2785.148 so "normally it's good. But no. I'm still have the issue.
I've seen some guys that have solved the problem by unlocking the keyring with seahorse before to launch the browser. But it doesn't work for me.

Seems to work for me since the last update. 1.5.638.3 (Build officiel) dev (64 bits)
-
Fuck, it works one day, yesterday it works fine, even after a reboot. But today, everythings is forgot again…
This bug was a pain in the ass for everyday browsing since two months now. -
I've tried with a fresh Stable install version and it have same problem.
It is solved for you ?Does @ruario is in touch with that bug ?
