      Hello to all!
I wanted to ask for help: is it possible to make an identical copy (a mirror copy) of th installed e Vivaldi in a Portable Vivaldi version?

@milt983 If by "Portable" you mean "will launch exactly same session with all my cookies and passwords on a different machine" then: No.

A number of Vivaldi's files are encrypted using a key associated with the Machine, OS install, and user you are logged in as.

You can copy the data as many times as you want inside your own logged-in user on that machine and the copies will load well. Move those data to another machine, or even another account on the same machine, and the session will at least be partially broken (cookies and stored passwords)

Hi, there is no real portable version of Vivaldi, there is the Standalone install.
You can install Vivaldi on a USB stick, copy your profile over from your PC, all fine.
This work only on the system you have installed from, some files and folders are encrypted.
If you want to start this on a different system passwords, cookies and extensions are not working.

EDIT: Ooops, @yngve was faster. 🙂

Opensuse Tumbleweed x86_64 KDE 6.3 X11, Windows 11 Pro, Vivaldi latest
      HP Probook Intel(R) i5-8350U 16 GB, GPU UHD 620, SSD 256 GB
      Miniforum-B550 AMD Ryzen 7 4700G 16 GB, Radeon Graphics

@yngve Thank you for your reply!
"If by "Portable" you mean "will launch exactly same session with all my cookies and passwords on a different machine". Yes, that was exactly what I meant...
I see... I did realise that, and that's why I asked for help.
Is it possible that something like this could be done in the near future?

@milt983 I suspect that it is unlikely. It would be too easy to disable the encryption by accident.

Migration of that kind is what Sync is for (won't move cookies).

I don't know what 'Sync' is, but if the reason is what you say, then a question arises: then are all other portable browsers such as Brave, Chrome, or others to be thrown away as unreliable?

@bryk thank you. Unfortunately, it is in Russian only and I do not understand...

@milt983 Both those other browsers are using the exact same encryption system as Vivaldi, and AFAIK they are as non-inter-account/machine movable as Vivaldi (they just don't tell you that you will lose the encrypted data).

      As for Sync: See https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tools/sync/

@yngve Ah... OK. Sync by Vivaldi. I'm sorry but it's badly done: it's not logical that you can't choose to do just Download or Upload or both, because if in either browser the data is broken instead of repairing, I do more damage!
