Request: Convert URLs to links
-
There is one major problem holding me back from using Vivaldi Calendar for work.
I work remote and ALL of my calendar meetings include a link to a Zoom and/or Teams meeting to join.
Vivaldi calendar displays the raw contents of the calendar description, but the links are not clickable.
At a minimum, I would like Vivaldi to detect
https
URLs and convert them to clickable links.A further enhancement would be to detect video conference links (maybe by domain name) and add a special "Join Meeting" button. macOS calendar does this, for example.

I thought, that this was already in there.
Tested with 7.3.3635.12 Win 11I can see/add URL in title and description.
See GIF animations.
URL In title and description:
If you do not see URL, switch in weekly view of event the View: Full View.
And URL In title:
And you can see all URLs in description/title good in Calendar panel.

@majorhayes Links in the description should be clickable. Do you mean links in the title? Please clarify. Is it a special link or a normal web link (https://example.com…)

I am syncing a Google Calendar with Zoom links. Here are some screenshots of how a meeting looks:
None of the links are clickable.
-
@majorhayes Ah, so they are actually HTML but displayed as text.

It seems like it. I'd like to see the actual CalDAV object data to see what it looks like raw (I assume CalDAV is the protocol being used), but I'm not sure how to see the raw data from the sync.

Here is how macOS calendar app shows the same event:
-
Win 11 and Linux with 7.4.3684.38 :
All linksin title or description of event clickable in Google calendars.@majorhayes I guess in your 3rd case related to iCalendar web standards HTML-Code is not allowed to be parse as a link.
-
I'm not sure I understand your response. This is a Google Calendar as I stated in my post. My screenshots are all from ONE event. I'm not sure what "3rd case" you are referring to as there is only 1 case presented.
When I click on an event to see details, it shows in edit mode. The "description" is a textarea (editable text). I can't figure out how to have the details of the event show as non-editable, where links may be clickable.
-
@majorhayes The 2nd case
Had you pasted HTML code in the description?
The first a mailto works, but the next href to google not.
But i do not know if a description is a iCalendar event is allowed to have raw HTML.
I tested a event and it showed both links, a mailto and a WWW link.
I created a bug report:
VB-117407 "HTML content in description field is partly shown as markup" -
I'm not creating events. These are events created by co-workers using Google Calendar and they show up on my calendar.
I do not control the contents.
The descriptions don't show up in the calendar view, and clicking on an event to see more details only provides an edit view.

@majorhayes URLs are visible only in expanded view:
