@ender85: Ran into that as well. (Didn't try the work around, just used an older installer and the auto update). For me it only occurred on the arm64 installer on a Windows Insider build.

Please leave politics out of it, of Vivaldi cannot succeed as a business if they always do what liberals demand as the politically correct course of action. A browser is used by everyone; liberals, conservatives, communists, Moslems, Buddhists, Christians, Atheists, Jews, and Palistinians.

accidently installed this over the stable,
now every time i click on an unread mail,
~~when its marked as read~~ i stand corrected, every time i click on a new mail, after a second it instantly dissapears from the preview and switches directly to a "no message selected" preview! but the mail is still selected. i have to click it again to show the content..
also when i delete a mail, jumping to the previous mail, also again "no message selected". then i have to click another mail and then back to it, to see the preview..

i tried to install the stable release again over it, but the database is not recognized..
on which previous build can i downgrade, so the mail database is readable again?

nobody else with this behaviour?

this build is totally unusable!
which build is the latest that can read this mail database, so i can revert this?

@schreck Settings, Mail, Unread Messages, and Disable:

Automatically mark as read

With this setting enabled; if you use the Unread view as you primary filter, clicking a mail to view it will assume that you have read it.

I prefer to use the Received view as my primary filter, then both read and unread messages are displayed.

I see that too, in the Unread view, but not in the Received view. I am using the latest Snapshot. It seems odd to me that the unread status does not change when select messages in the Unread view, but that may be as designed for the reason that you reported (to stop the messages disappearing from Unread.

that is not the issue i am describing
not understandable what the problem is?
when i select the new mail, the mail is deselected after a second, despite automatically read or not and the preview turns to "no message selected"
its not happening in your build??

using here 7.4.3671.3 windows 11 64bit

I am using the same build, which is the latest Snapshot (see my forum signature).

This looks like a problem caused by overwriting the Stable with the Snapshot.

hm, so maybe installing the snapshot again seperatly new and copying over my profile?

Hi, with up and downgrade Vivaldi your profile is broken and the install.
I would never trust such a profile anymore.
Move your User Data folder or .config/vivaldi on Linux to a save place, uninstall Vivaldi and install stable if you want to use this.
You can try to copy your profile over but I fear this will not work.
If not you can copy file after file, start with Preferences > test then Bookmarks and Login Data > test.
May you can copy over the Mail folder, after restart the mail database is rebuild with this Mail folder.

everything was working when downgraded, but the mail database cannot be read with the stable version.
hence my question, which was the last version, that was compatible with the database.
every time the same when trying to downgrade again (tried it also before, to go back from the totally slow 7.3 again to 7.1), the database is never compatible anymore, which is sh*t!

Hi, I have no idea but you can delete/rename the exiting database if you use IMAP, I don't use POP3 therefor I am not sure if it work there too.
If you have a profile backup you can test, the mail database is rebuild after the next start.
Delete the folder:
\Default\Storage\ext\ mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli

Many users downgrade and didn't notice any errors but after some weeks they get unexpected issues, freeze, crash and whatnot.
Then Vivaldi gets blamed as crap but the downgrade caused this.

@schreck I can confirm that I have the same problem, but with feeds, which are similar to emails in V. This happens only with feeds which are inside a folder. I have to open the folder and click only on one of the sources in order to get rid of the issue.
I hope you understand what I mean.

Note: I'm on stable version
