The developer version is several times slower than stable
-
I don't know why, but the developer version (last two versions - since the icon became black) is VERY slow in comparison with stable version (1.3.551.38). At first I thought that the problem is in the user files or maybe in installation type (standalone). Then I installed again both versions on my desktop separately and tested: both with standalone installation. Interesting. They are indistinguishable here. I wonder why your system does that.

Before v1.3.582.3 they were indistinguishable on my PC too.
Maybe my system does not like the black icon.
I hope this will be fixed before next stable release.

Hard to know how to fix it, if it can't be replicated. No such behavior has been reported by developers or testers. Perhaps some other users with side-by-side installations can test to see if they can find a disparity.

On the other hand, perhaps if you were to refresh your profile on your snapshot version, something might change.

It seems like I have figured out what is causing this: my antivirus - 360 Total Security. When I quit it, both Vivaldi versions are working with same speed.

Good to know.

One reason why I stopped using 3P security software some years back. One of the best decisions I ever made.

Just wanted to add "me too". After upgrading to the offered 1.4 I thought I did a bad install, Vivaldi didn't come up.
Showed up Task Manager, but no window. Killed them off re-install 1.4 and tried again, still no window. Did this
several times, tried a couple of the RC, but no joy. Clicked the Icon to start it up again, then got distracted on something else,
about a minute later, Vivaldi popped up int the background. Tried this a few times and it always took at least 30 sec
to come up?? Went back tp 1.3 and Vivaldi comes up in a couple of seconds like "normal". I use Avg for virus and disable
it, but 1.4 still took 30 secs. So I'm back to 1.3 til something can be figured out.
I did try both 32 and 64 bit versions of 1.4 same results.
I'm running on a Windows 7 64 bit, AMD quad core with 8 gig of ram. Don't think I've installed any software that would
conflict. Anyways there is my "me too", hoping that someone will come up with a solution. -
The solution will be on your machine. You have something actively blocking Vivaldi.

The stable version 1.4 is quite good. Vivaldi has formerly loaded very slow, though the browsing has been excellent.. I just wonder why it has to run 7 prosesses to go … my alternative browsers work with a single, or twice.
