Vivaldi Calendar and Outlook
-
So under Setting Calendar it shows the following option, and it seems implied that outlooks calendar is supported. yet I can't seem to get it to work. Looking at the forum it seems publishing should work but not all calendars show like on my Samsung calendar I can see my task and events. So, is this just an oversight?

@AECLx3015 Why have you not clicked "continue" to go to the next page where you fill in username etc.?
-
I do not know correct if a calendar created by Web Calendar can be edited and changes updated to Outlook.
I thought Web Calendar was for fetching only events.
-
@AECLx3015 Outlook uses a proprietary protocol for two way sync of calendars which is not supported by Vivaldi at this time (might be added later but not very likely). Only solution to get Outlook calendars is using the Web Calendar option which is as DoctorG points out read only, it will get events from the server but you can not add or edit events. To get the URL to use you go to Settings and Shared Calendars in Outlook web UI.

@mossman I did but I can't find an appropriate web address. So it won't work. Though emails do work I feel this is a bit misleading but ill just have to use the shared access with another calendar to sync it.

@AECLx3015 all the information you need is in the answer of Vivaldi's calendar developer above....
@eggert said in Vivaldi Calendar and Outlook:

@WildEnte I got it. It would be nice if they removed outlook since its technically not supported. From the field on add account

@AECLx3015 Added as bug VB-116347

@WildEnte Yes, but it's not a fully satisfactory answer. The Vivaldi developer has basically said that you can see Events, but can't add or modify Events. That's very limited use for the user enquiring, and for myself, who rely on Outlook.
I agree with the User who made the request - Vivaldi should not say that you can use Outlook in the Vivaldi Calendar feature, or they should say that it's a limited use feature.

Further to your reply to the User who asked about Outlook Calendar, how to add it to Vivaldi Calendar feature. The following is feedback to make Vivaldi better.
*Can you please, please pursue this further with your Developer Team, as a priority. Outlook is extensively used worldwide. It has the best features of any calendar platform. It is very logical in the way that it's been developed.
So right now, we can see Events, but can't add or modify Events. That's very limited use for the millions and millions who rely on Outlook.
In the current state, Vivaldi's invite to add our Calendars to Vivaldi calendar feature says that Outlook can be added. But when we go to add, we can't find the Outlook account type option. So we then have to go to the Forum to see how to add, and we find your response.
Vivaldi should change that to state, at that early set up stage, that you can use Outlook in the Vivaldi Calendar feature, but that it's a limited use, and that to add, to use the Web Calendar option to add it.
That would save us from having to look up a solution ourselves.*Again, if your team could please allow us to add Outlook to Calendar in its full use that would be really appreciated.
Thank you v much for all your assistance, and for making Vivaldi possible. It is much appreciated.

@JoeA11111 thanks for raising this so politely, and welcome to the forum!
I'm sure they'd implement support for Exchange / Active Sync if Vivaldi had more resources. But as a browser/mail client that's free of charge, they have to carefully pick what they invest their development efforts in to attract new users.
Issue VB-116347 "[Calendar] remove reference to outlook calendars, which are not supported" is confirmed in the bug tracker, and right now that's all that I can add to that.
It's not fun for anyone to leave passionate users disappointed.
