Why does theme-color not accept any shade of black/grey/white?
-
Hi, I've been playing around with setting theme-color in meta info to change the colour of vivaldi's tab colour when you have the option enabled, if you set a colour that's too dark (e.g #1c1f25) It seems to switch back to using a colour from the favicon which is extremely annoying

There are default contrast settings to prevent text and other elements from blending into each other or being hidden. If you select a color that provides insufficient contrast, the browser jumps to one with more contrast.
To get a fully accurate real-time look at how the colors you are selecting affect the UI, turn off the "Fade foreground colors" setting, and it will help you refrain from choosing colors that will make the UI unusable.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean.
I can see if you set your theme to a colour thats too bright, the text switches to black, and vice-versa for switching to a colour that's too dark, however what I'm talking about is the theme-color property is entirely ignored if you set a colour that's any shade of white/grey/black, this is a fairly recent change and it's made the site I regularly visit look awful.

I can't replicate that problem. Are you using hex code to set it, or the color picker?

hex code, though I feel like you might think I'm meaning the theme you set in browser.
I didn't really explain this very well, sorry.
I'm talking about settingin a html pages head block.to be a little more specific, using the above hex code on plug.dj causes the accent colour to show as greenish although that colour isn't actually in the favicon;
however using a colour that's brighter works fine;
the first theme-color used to work fine before one of the recent updates to vivaldi, and works fine on chrome on mobile
