Google search with map results - empty page
tsader last edited by
When I google certain things that return results with google map links, those links when clicked open an empty page 1.3.551.37 Thx
Specify at least one example, I do some random location search, for example "milan maps", first thing shown is a detail of the map, click on it and google maps opens and shows me a working map

use this as an example: gyms near Fulham…
Then either clicking on the map or the samples an empty page comes up
Confirmed not working, even on windows. It must be related to specific search keywords leading to different urls
Cnfirmed in internal tester version.
Please report this bug precisely at https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/
This seems to be a already reported bug B-20299 "Google smart places details not displayed"
Google dislikes Vivaldi.
But i have a workaround.
Install extension user-agent-switcher from https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-g/ffhkkpnppgnfaobgihpdblnhmmbodake
Switch Useragent to Chrome
Now it works fine.
Our ambassador for a Open Web Molly Holzschlag is in contact with Google to let them know this problem.
confirmed working with the user agent changed to Chrome for Windows. That's sad
Blank page on Google maps shown within search results (VB-21248)
seems fixed, at least works for me, without changing user agent
Nice to hear.
Thanks for feedback.

@gwen-dragon Sorry to say, but I know of a page with a Google map inserted and that map does not show in Vivaldi 1.14.1077.50. That map shows just fine in all other browsers which I tried: - Chrome, Chromium, Safari, Firefox, Opera, Maxthon. Maybe it's a cache thing but I doubt it. Try here http://visitmartin.com -- there's no map showing. Can you reproduce this? If you can successfully view the map in Vivaldi on that page, why can't I see it?

The map shows fine for me (Vivaldi 1.15.1104.3 snapshot).
Edit: Oh nevermind, this is in the Mac forums. (I'm on Win 10).
@mypointofview Accidentally disabled display of images in statusbar?
Some of your Ad/Filter/Privacy extension filters/blocks?

@gwen-dragon Thanks for the idea but I don't disable images. I also don't filter ads. Are you saying that you can very well see the map in your Vivaldi browser – so is it just me?! I should mention that I have coded that page a long time ago. I'm aware that Google now asks for an API to integrate their maps. But because all is just fine in so many other browsers I was thinking that perhaps it's a Vivaldi issue. The map is an iFrame FYI. When I click on the link that should display the map I get the alert "400. That’s an error. Your client has issued a malformed or illegal request. That’s all we know." – try yourself:
EDIT: I tried the link in Google Chrome and got the warning: "The Google Maps Embed API must be used in an iframe." ... so now we know it's not Vivaldi :) – still strange that visitmartin.com shows the map just fine in Google Chrome, perhaps they are less strict?
