The Official Vivaldi.net Bug Thread (Not for Vivaldi browser!)
-
Why on Earth has the "Official VIVALDI.NET bug thread (NOT FOR VIVALDI BROWSER)" apparently been merged with the VIVALDI BROWSER BUG THREAD!?!?!?!?!?!?

Why on Earth has the "Official Vivaldi.met bug thread (Not for Vivaldi Browser)" apparently been merged with the Vivaldi browser bug thread!?
I don't know what you're talking about , but why are you so
-
Because the point of this other thread was to talk about the website, NOT THE BROWSER. And in that thread, it was annoying that so many people ignored the text of the title and talked about bugs IN THE BROWSER. And now, unbelievably, it seems that it's been officially merged with the the bugs thread FOR THE BROWSER!
It was moderators that tried to create two separate threads for two separate topics, so it's quite amazing that moderators then sabotage that aim several months later. I'm not outraged, I just don't really understand why after all that effort to keep the two unrelated topics distinct, it's been made even more confusing than before.

The entire discussion between Pesala and myself was not about the browser at all, but rather completely about how to manage topics in the vivaldi.net forum, given that one of the forum topics had gotten so full that it's more recent comments could not be accessed at all by members of the community (though Mods could see them). This would clearly be a forum bug.
Hence, the recent conversation was about the community forums entirely, and not at all about the browser.
Were you thinking about the conversation I mentioned, or about something else?

Maybe it's just me - but what I see here is a topic about Vivaldi bugs (subject "Bugs - The Official Bug Thread"), and the title of the page is "THE OFFICIAL VIVALDI.NET BUG THREAD (NOT FOR VIVALDI BROWSER!)". So I naturally assume that these threads have been merged and mixed up. Correct me if I'm wrong…
-
All better now?
The subject title of this topic has been changed a couple of times over the last year and a half (actually it was changed twice by the original mod 'way back in early 2015) but the comment titles were never changed to match the new title of the topic. It was ASSUMED originally that because the topic was in the Forum/Suggestion Box category that the title "Official Bug Thread" would not be confusing, but it was. So the title was changed - twice - but if the mod who does that doesn't sync the thread and comment titles, the comments continue to be made under the old thread name. I fixed that.

1. A moment ago, while posting a topic about tabs, I noticed a weird bug which appears only here, so I think it's a site bug. Let's say you wanna post an image sized 1000x50, type your text and then you wanna see it all what it's gonna look like, so you just press "preview". And here comes the bug: the "preview" part has a slider, so you can read the rest. However, the part where you can edit the text doesn't have a slider, so if you want to change anything in the text that is not visible - you can't.
2. This one happens randomly with the forum and without any interference from me: the forum formats my text input to bold when I haven't done such a thing.
-
Another bug with the forum - when sending a report to a moderator (I reported a topic for being in the wrong section), the report is sent but the forum displays "Error, incorrect address: [my username]". That misleads the person reporting that the report isn't sent.

BUG on the Vivaldi.net forums:
Could not register a account using Vivaldi Browser today.
On the second page of account creation (Avatar and optional info) I got a persistent error message:
"Please enter a valid username. No space at beginning or end, at leas:t 2 characters and must not contain the following characters: < > \ " ' % ; ( ) &."Problem - there is no username input on that page !!!
I changed to Firefox and could register without a problem.

On registering I got a red pop up claiming that my email address was not a valid email address. Of course it was my valid email address and it didn't prevent me from registering and receiving the token for activation of the account, but it was confusing. Probably there is some mistake in the checking.

Hiding the search box in this forum from unregistered users is NOT acceptable. Much less when Google and Bing are willing to provide their search for free.
Haven't you heard of the 1% rule? For every 100 people that use the page there are 10 that have an account, 1 that actually posts regularly and 90 that don't. You're literally blocking essential functionality (because how are you going to use a forum if you can't search?) from 90% of your users.
-
I'll mention this to the community director for the new forum software that will be rolled out.
-
Automatic subscriptions seem to be enabled again.

They absolutely are. But since we're about to change platforms, I haven't complained.

"F" day is tomorrow. Now that I learnt to find my way around this forum, I have to start all over again from tomorrow. Here's hoping the learning curve is not too steep, and the teething problems don't have me gnashing my teeth.

As this thread concerns the old forum, I'm closing it so to avoid any mixup and make it easier for us to follow it up.
