@ThePfromtheO No, you cannot connect any other email service to Vivaldi Webmail.

You can connect any Email Client to Vivald's mail service. Doesn't have to be a webmail client.

      For instructions read:

But... what did you mean here?😭 😢

I linked you articles, explaining the difference between an email client and email server. They are good articles, I suggest you read those.

@Pathduck Ok, I think I understood. But, to have access to vivaldi webmail, do I must create a blog on Vivaldi Social and use Mastodon?

@ThePfromtheO There's no automatic "do this to get email access". Just prove you are a human and not a spammer. And wait until you get access, I don't know how long.

Creating a blog or using Vivaldi social helps I guess.

@Pathduck Only one question, I hope.
Do I need to have an email connected with Vivaldi Email to have the chance to get access to Vivaldi webmail?

@ThePfromtheO No, you just need to wait for access.

@luetage Ok, so I asked because Proton emails don't support connecting with other mail providers without ProtonMail Bridge, which is a paid feature.

Vivaldi mail client has Proton logo in the list of options on account set up page. So I presume you can use Proton with Vivaldi mail client

@iqaluit proton Mail works with proton bridge, when you configure the IMAP connection mode to SSL instead of STARTTLS in the proton bridge advanced settings

Usually on Win11 running Vivaldi Snapshot builds. Opinionated about working efficiently with email. Folders are evil | Mail workflow: receive, read, reply, mark as read, done.

@iqaluit no, you can't connect it without Proton Bridge. I tried that without it and doesn't work.

@DoctorG I knew this too. Terrible thing. I think they purposely do this so you'll need to pay to use some features other email clients give you for free. Like Thunderbird, Vivaldi Mail etc.
I think I am going to leave Proton once, despite their security features. Anyway, total online security is not possible, so I want to have as many features as possible.

No. It's because ProtonMail encrypts the email on the server side. Obviously it needs to be decrypted on the client to be readable. So decryption has to happen there, that's why the Bridge (decrypting proxy) is needed, running on the local machine.

Clients like Thunderbird/Outlook/Vivaldi Mail does not have the ability to decrypt Protonmail messages directly.

I think it's perfectly fair to ask for some money for the development of the Bridge for users who need to run a dedicated mail client. If they want the free version, they can use the webmail interface.

People need to put food on the table for the time they spend making stuff. Not everything on the internet needs to be free.
