Thanks for screwing my Vivaldi browser with that new garbage version!

Sorry to say this in my first post, but have all you guys completely lost your minds? I CANNOT use this failiure, since you have deliberately destroyed this promising browser by rendering ot useless with this shitty font smoothing. Not only that, it also messed up my settings, now showing every site in stupid mickey mouse colors. So, since i have already read, that you Sirs do not plan to reintroduce the font smoothing, but rather stick to this unreadable crap of smoothing, could you maybe AT LEAST give me a hint, how i can go back AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE to the previous version 2,something, which at that time wasn't a complety joke yet? Otherwise, if you do not allow users to roll back, i even would prefer to keep using Opera 12.17 with all of its other flaws and weaknesses. THIS VERSION WAS THE DAMN STUPIDEST IDEA OU POSSIBLY COULD COME UP WITH!!! And yes, i was shouting, because you made me very very angry.
-
Vivaldi didn't do that. Chromium did. There's dissatisfaction with it across the web, with people who have certain types of graphics rendering. So far, however, Google shows no sign of backing down.
I personally have not seen the problem on any of my eight machines. However, I know it's a nightmare for the people who have it. But so far Google appears to think there are too few of you to pay any attention to.
-
So, do i understand right, that Google violently keeps people from rolling back to the previous version at least? If so, please tell me asap, because i will instantly will deinstall this failure and make sure, that in NEVER EVER install some of this Google-%§$%§ anymore!!
Otherwise, please give some advice, how i could force Vivaldi back to version 2.x, which i would keep permanently. because it just worked. Thanks!

That's not a great way to introduce yourself to this community! The fault is entirely your own for getting angry. You really need to get some help for your blurry way of thinking. Direct write without thinking first is not at all skilful.
If you look on the blogs, you can find older versions. If you search the forum, you can find out which was the last version with direct write.

Look at this thread for more info etc

Ok then, but what about going back to the latest 2.x version? Where can i download it, and how can i avoid, that it installs the broken version anyway?

(Why has it to be such a pain to post something here, with mods checking, and annoying captchas?)

We've had a HUGE problem with commercial spammers overrunning the forum with comments that are really ads - dozens of them in a row (like for moving services in India.) The spam filter could be cranked down hard enough to reject them, but then it was also blocking regular and reputable community users. The filter could be loosened so that no good users were blocked, but then the spammers were back.
So new commenters now have to have their FIRST few comments approved and then they can comment without any prior moderation at all. Enjoy your day.

Ok, another question: I finally have managed (nobody answered my question here) to get some 1.3 version reinstalled. How can it be possible, that after a few minutes that version auto updates itself to the broken version 3.x, without any notification whatsoever?
Not only that, it starts closing pages on its own, like this one, when i'm typing.

Here's an idea. I can't stand rude arrogant angry egotistical people. In future, when new members join & begin ranting & spitting their toxic venom within their first few syllables, & don't moderate themselves when reproached, why doesn't the community respond by… NOT responding... at all? After a sustained silence, maybe some of the more astute angry people might pause for reflection, soften their behaviour, & begin acting civilly. THEN we'd happily help them.

The Stable versions to date are: 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3. In any case, old versions of Vivaldi and their links can be found by looking through the blog pages at https://vivaldi.net/en-US/

It sounds as if there's either something messed up with the Vivaldi installation on your system, or there's perhaps some flaw which may now be embedded into one of your Vivaldi user profile files for that account. Renaming the */userdata/default/ folder to a new name (with Vivaldi shut off) will force Vivaldi to auto-create a clean new profile folder (but leaves your old folder intact if you need to rename it back or copy files from it to the new folder).
Vivaldi doesn't automatically update itself without first asking your permission. If that seems to be happening 'automatically', it might be somehow caused by a failure of a previous update attempt to successfully complete itself in the OS.

Abrik,
Perhaps the addition of the Chrome Mod called Font Rendering Enhancer might be of help to you?I cannot advise further since I'm relatively new to Vivaldi myself (3 months, max), but I noticed that fonts were a bit jagged and hard to read and saw a post recommending the above mod. Installed it and the problem was fixed on my system. I've upgraded to 1.3 and haven't noticed any font problems thereafter.

I've been using Opera since 3.62 and have promoted VIVALDI as much as I can
However my computer runs Windows Vista, and when I tried to update to the new version released in the last few days
I am told that from now on VIVALDI requires that I update my computer to Windows 7
This is no-where even close to the care and ethics that used to be on show at Opera for many years.
You may guess that I am just a little bit peeved that after all these years it has come to this. -
Vivaldi is built on Chromium, and Chromium stopped support for XP and Vista. It was not Vivaldi's decision.
