You really, really gotta fix the problems with cache!!

  • Problem 1: When the cache reaches a random size, all the pages stop loading. Sometimes it reaches 30MB and the pages stop loading, other times it reaches 500MB and the pages stop loading. It's very annoying to have to empty all cache folders every 3-4 hours. Problem 2: custom settings for cache folder set through a shortcut are competely ignored by the browser in v1.3.551.13.

    Interesting. Never seen this symptom. Ever. Right now, I've had Vivaldi up for 28 hours straight, cache is at 425 MB, and it just runs.

    I've never encountered this either.

    You mentioned that in this thread
    https://vivaldi.net/en-US/forum/vivaldi-browser/11582-how-to-change-the-location-of-the-cache-folder

    Not sure if there was a bug report written for this.

  • I had this problem with v1.2 and it remained after the update.
    Anyway, I found an easy way to clear the cache. Ofcourse, the browser has to be closed but now I can save a lot of clicking and I'm gonna share it here for everyone who has the same problem as me.
    Just make a batch file with these two commands:
    @RD /S /Q "C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default\Cache"
    @RD /S /Q "C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default\Media Cache"

    *replace [username] with your login name for Windows. Create a shortcut to the batch file on your desktop and whenever you need to delete the cache just close the browser just double click that shortcut. The whole operation of removing these two directories takes less than a second. And don't worry, the browser creates them when you start it, so nothing will be corrupted.
